2014 Ladies and Gentlemen

1: Thin the players down, some of them don't look match fit and it's affected their game and agility
2: Bring in a new attacking plan
3: Have a military style 36-48 hour camp at Canungra or the Glass House mountains. Some of the guys seem to have lost confidence and each other and a camp will be a great asset. A weekly bonding session on a weekday night, go out to a movie, dinner etc
4: Make Parker captain, Thiaday isn't captaincy material IMO
5: Get the players to know no-one fears or rates the Broncos anymore and how it's up to them to turn it around
6: Make the off-season as enjoyable as possible, make the players turn up with a big smile on their face with a confident attitude.

1. I like this one. It isn't even just fitness, I think some of the guys look too bulky. extra muscle isn't always a good thing, there is a balance and I think some players have passed it

2. This is one i'd like but what would this new 'attacking plan' actually be?
would you have us playing deeper/flatter, how would it work etc. Do you try getting our forwards to spread the ball for our bakcs (like the Dogs), do we simplify the game and grind up the field (a la Bennett) or do we try to take advantage of the offloading of Parker/Gillett etc and play a high risk/reward game like the Warriors often do?

Our attack desperately needs to change but i feel like some of the talk is just empty. There needs to be improvements in the coaching/strategies but that is far easier said than done. part of our problem is strategy but I also feel like the quality of some of our key position players is holding us back

4. What do you do if Parker isn't willing to take the captaincy? i've heard rumours to that effect before. A reluctant captain could be as bad as a poor quality captain.

I think Parker might have said he didn't want it to not cause any conflict with Thaiday.

Throw caution to the wings more often and play with a lot more ball movement. Our attack is mainly just run the ball up through the middle as a hard as you can or pass to Thiaday, Gillett or Parker and see if they can sneak an offload. In the first half tonight we didn't use our backs well as we didn't give them the ball when we had their defense out-numbered.

Pull Thiaday aside and tell him that he needs to get the team motivated by pumping them up on the field, encouraging them and barking orders like JT does for the Cowboys.

This is how a captain directs his team around and encourages them

Was that Luke Walsh who caught JT high and apologized? 3:03?

Imagine if this ends up the team at some point!!

1. Hoffman
2. Oates
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Yippee
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. Hannant
9. McCullough
10. McGuire
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker (c)

14. Stagg
15. Kennedy
16. Thaiday
17. Hala

oh yeah!! Hala was one of our best before injury. That is easily a too four side.

Troll?

Perhaps. I'm still trying to figure out what a "too four" side is.

Sorry, iPhone auto correct. I'm not a troll, I'm a Broncs supporter who has been in other forums like Sportal, finally got around to signing up here with fellow Broncs supporters. There are way too many trolls on other sites. That side I put up is certainly a top four side on paper I believe, definitely top five at worst.

Welcome to the forums, mate. You will definitely stir them up with the Barba selection at 5/8...

Top four perhaps?

What exactly did he say that warrants a troll tag? Put Hoffman in 1 and Barba in 6, or the Hala line? :glare:

How about we stick to commenting the opinions and leave the authors be?

Right on Porthoz, could not have said it better myself.

Sproj: Why put one of the games best fullbacks in the halves to accommodate one of the lesser fullbacks?

No matter how strong our strongest on-field squad is and no matter how good the new signings are if they aren't used and trained properly more of the same will be expected. I hope missing the finals is a real wake up call for everyone involved and they come back with a real determination to turn it around.

If I was given the first grade team for the off-season this what I would do.

1. Agree with Glenn, Gillett and Oates. We don't need to try and copy Souths, we just need good defense and not worry about whether they are giants or not.

2. McCullough needs to play 80 minutes or get Baptiste in. Hunt has so many positive aspects if he can be consistent. I like the way Hunt passes well to his wide running second rowers.

3. Like the idea.

4. Go long-term and select Glenn as captain so you can bench Thaiday.

5. Sacking Thaiday will help with this as captain.

6. Fun yes but instill hunger.

I can actually see Griffin playing Barba at 6 if we do not get Milford. It's definitely a real possibility with Griffin.

Sad but true :( How angry will I be if that happens, and it won't be until the season is almost shot before he'd switch it.
