Mate, you can't keep them all. We have obviously chosen Dearden as our long term halfback, you can't expect everyone to stick around.

And he came in and performed extremely well at 18. I can't recall him missing a tackle, he's been kicking well (when given the opportunity), he's organising the side extremely well for a young play, he ought to have had a few more assists if his outside players could hold the ball, and best of all Milford looks way better with him in the side. Obviously Payne has been the revelation this season but Dearden isn't far behind given how terrible the NRL halves stocks are.

The rorters are going back to paying jrs from other clubs extreme overs and praying they come good. They won a spoon with that method when they attempted it with Niko, so let's hope we get a repeat.

To be honest, that's what the Roosters are doing right now, they have like half a dozen of them.

Do they even have scouts? It seems like they buy on hype. Robbo and Nick are delusional and think they're the Man United of the NRL, so if they have that mentality they will just be buying whichever hyped/ big name they can and ruining their team balance

You kinda have to do that. You can't just stockpile every young half that shows promise. You do what Melbourne does, pick one and develop them.
Yeah and what happens if they fizzle? You are left with your d*** in your hand.
They would be on small contracts. Boyd had a great combination with Fifita on the right edge.

I know but f***k me. Putting all our eggs in one basket IMO. We have so much depth of halves finally coming through.
Corey paix and Sean o'sullivan say hello....
They also outperformed tanah boyd in the qld cup by a large amount by all reports...

How the f*** do we lose Tanah Boyd and Walker in two consecutive days? Wtf is going on with this club? Constantly losing players and not signing anything!

for some players (especially young players) it isn't about the money, they will go where there is an opportunity ... there isn't here, there may be at the Titans especially with Ash Taylor out

You just have to hope that you have made the right choice. Kids are not going to sit around and hope they get a shot, they need to see they actually have a viable path to first grade.

Also, having a combination with one player doesn't mean anything, you are either the best option to play halfback or not.

Obviously they do, they found Walker before a single Broncos fan had ever heard of him. The hype came after their interest.

We still have Paix and I have also thought he was the far better prospect out of him and Boyd.

What do you think of this whole situation? Do you think in your opinion, we have made the right choice?

How do you choose a 18 year old as your long term halfback, its stupid.

so let me ask you this ... if you were in Boyd's shoes, you would hang around ISC on very little money hoping that the 2 or 3 guys ahead of you shit the bed enough for you to get a shot ... instead of going to a club where your shot could come a lot sooner?

Statistically speaking Boyd has been the least impressive of the O'Sullivan, Paix & Boyd trio in the ISC. Dargan has also been comparable. And that's without even mentioning Dearden.

We had to lose 1-2 of them eventually.

People are paid to make these decisions and anyway, the writing was on the wall for Boyd, there was no way he was going to stick around.

Same could have been said about a 17 year old Karmichael Hunt at fullback.

Why don’t you give Dearden more than 5 games before you write him off.

So what do you suggest the club do then? Chain the poor bastard up to the goal posts at Red Hill and wait for Dearden to **** up so we can give him a run? Or even better, cut his hands off so he can't use a pen and sign a contract with someone else?

Not sure what you expected him and club to do mate. He obviously doesn't see a pathway here and thinks there are better opportunities at the Titans. Pretty fucking obvious.

Development players have to be on $75,000 and he trains with the full time squad- it's not exactly a hard luck life for a 18 year old.

Turpin hung around the got promoted to the 30 and his go. Not saying Boyd should do that but it does happen.

That’s a bit of an over exaggeration haha ... clown! His path at titans is blocked the same as it is here if not more.

I'd say less blocked at the Titans, considering the uncertainty with Taylor and the other options not being standouts.
