Game II Discussion

I'd say insufficient as well.

With the way the foot is shaped and the way he was "tip-toeing" down the side line, it's possible that the outter side of his foot is planted and the inside heel is still marginally off the ground, as Pete said, still not enough to overturn the live decision.

Try keeping your front part of the foot flat on the ground, your right side of the heel planted on the ground and try lifting the left side of your heel off the ground.

If the front part of his foot was slightly tilted, it's possible. But it was flat on the ground. There is no way he would have been able to keep the left side of the heel off the ground.

@Unbreakable my entire case is riding on you.

No further evidence your honour, let's hand it over to the men & women of the jury.

The real evidence is the fact that the linesman was in the perfect position to see, no person or camera could have a clearer view. The linesman was staring straight at the boot and line and was behind....and didn't raise his flag. That's good enough. Camera shots are deceptive and even if the heel was fully planted it still does not mean the foot touched the line. Now it doesn't matter as it's yesterdays news, it was awarded a try and that's the reality.

EDIT: Sorry man, didn't refresh. I can see your point, but the past is the past. Who knows what might have come from them not awarding that try.
I like to think that we would have scored another 4 tries in lieu. So really, we were robbed.

Can we all at least agree that if Oates was playing the try would never have been in doubt?

On another subject, does anybody else think that Cameron Smith might be carrying some kind of injury ?

I know there was talk that he had some kind of sternum injury after game 1 but it quickly got shot down by Strom/QLD officials.

He certainly didn't seem to have his usual influence on proceedings in Games 1 and 2.

Thoughts ?

lol trying to prove he's out from the last pictures is a little silly. Camera angle couldn't be worse.

I know the ticket prices are steep but im glad i bought the game 3 tickets now.
Great seats , cant wait.

I bought my game 3 tickets when they first came out. Only cost 75 a ticket. Glad I did that then

However, the NRL counsel disagreed, arguing Thaiday had held onto the thumb for "two to three seconds", and "for the purpose of causing (Bromwich) some discomfort".

So what they have said is, if it caused him discomfort, its against the spirit of the game. So anything that is going to cause an already injured player discomfort is unsportsmanlike like.

I'm not saying i disagree with what you are saying about Sam, he shouldnt resort to what he did, and i think players are fair game for contact if they are deemed fit to play, but like i said, you cant pick and choose. It has to be the same rule for everyone and its clearly not. It was a stupid decision by the NRL. Thankfully, they havent been consistent.

Running into a guy and making contact with a guys shoulder is part of the game . Bending peoples fingers when they are already on the ground being held down is a completely different thing .

Surely they haven't raised the prices to see the pinnacle of our working class game

Quite sufficient.

Look at the side on and look at the front on together. Clear as day.

The left side of the boot was covering part of the line.. The question was whether the heel was in the air or not. It wasn't.

Clutching at straws . Camera angles and foreshortening . Relate it to low catches in Cricket . More cameras and more techs involved in Cricket coverage . Yet they can`t make decisions based on slo mo . What I saw on Wed night was heel in the air . Touchie thought the same .

The conclusive angle would be from ground level parallel to his foot . A long angle from the opposite side is inconclusive .

Your kidding yourself if they didn't
Its how it always works. Its pretty disappointing though there days. They used to sell out in half an hour for games, these days there are like 20k tickets left after the first day because of the ridiculous prices they make you pay these days

Sumpins up . He ran the ball one time the other night at about the 70th min . I said after game 1 he looked slow . Hardly had the influence we expect from him .
All respect to him for his career . He is an immortal in waiting . I expect if we win the next game he`ll call rep footy quits .
