Matt Lodge Discussion

He looked like Martin Kennedy 2.0 to me.

Though I was fucking hammered... maybe my expectations were unrealistic which affected my judgement

How quickly some forget...

Before getting dropped by Griffin in what I think was his last performance for the Broncos, Martin ‘The Pillow’ Kennedy managed 4 runs for 34 metres...

Compare that to Lodge in a well beaten team with 14 hitups, 138m gained and 29 tackles.

I could be wrong but I don’t think we ever saw that sort of work from Kennedy and rarely if ever from Blair either.

Now his game wasn’t perfect, but let’s have a bit of perspective on this, shall we?

and lets also not forget that neither of those players were essentially rookies who had been out of the top grade for 3 seasons.

Lodge only played 12 NRL games before the incident happened.

I love how nothing has been said about this since the footy started.

PROUD LODGE SAYS NRL RETURN WORTH IT
Controversial Brisbane prop Matt Lodge says his polarising NRL return was worth it, claiming it was the first time he had been proud of himself.
Lodge appeared to have a comeback to regret in Brisbane’s 34-12 season-opening defeat to St George Illawarra last week.
He copped it from the crowd and threw an intercept that led to Dragons half Ben Hunt’s crunch try in the crushing loss.
It capped a turbulent week in which Brisbane copped criticism for signing Lodge on a one-year deal after his infamous 2015 New York drunken rampage. But Lodge was proud to have made it back to the NRL after three years in the wilderness following his US arrest.
“I can honestly say after everything I’ve done in my life this is the first time I have genuinely been proud of myself,” Lodge posted on Instagram.
“No one knows the battles I faced and how hard I had to work to get back to this point.
“Didn’t get the result on the field Thursday but after 3 YEARS out of the game I sometimes genuinely thought this day would never come I’m glad I remained committed to my goal and pushed through because it was worth it.” Lodge acknowledged that some did not want to see his return but vowed to make the most of his NRL lifeline.
“Everyone wants to ride with you when you’re doing well but I truly want to thank those who stuck by me and those who reached out to me when I was riding my low point I’ll never forget it,” he said.
“That to me is the true meaning of [HASHTAG]#loyalty[/HASHTAG].
“It’s a new week and the past is the past from now on its time to move on and work hard towards the next goal.
“Most didn’t think I could or want me to but I MADE IT BACK.”
Lodge will face his biggest test yet in Friday night’s Suncorp Stadium clash against North Queensland.
Cowboys prop Matt Scott said he had no problem with Lodge playing in the NRL ahead of what the North Queensland co-captain predicted would be a “physical encounter”.
“No. It’s rugby league once we cross that line,” Scott said of Lodge. “There’s guys with different pasts and histories, as soon as we get on the field it’s just a game.”

How surprisement. Lodge has a quiet week and the Sydney gutterpress go away.
This week, he carves up and the DT have a story on how he’s the devil in disguise according to his ex.
I couldn’t even bother linking to the drivel.

Hasn’t got her hand out for an earn too, has she?

Wouldn’t surprise me...

By christ he's copped it in the papers today and channel 9 just gave it to him, particularly Liz Ellis.

Yeah sports Sunday are ripping into the bloke today. No new allegations it’s all old news.

**** the media ... they are just butthurt that Bennett dissed them during the post match PC.

it will have the opposite effect (as usual) to want they are hoping for ... by firing up the team and ensuring they keep their "siege" mentality

As I've said in the past, this is on the NRL - if they say no we're not going to allow people like that in our code then fair enough, discussion ends there.

Brisbane are only operating within the guidelines set by the NRL.

Hopefully Todd Greenberg sacks up and de-registers the piece of filth.

Wayne Bennett: You can't divide us, so stop trying.

Tallis and Kent couldn't help having a dig on Triple M. They ran the line that back in the day, the Broncs had standards and moved players on but now, the club and Bennett hasn't won a premiership in a while and are desperate.
