Watching Wynnum from yesterday if there is a spot open this week and it doesn't go to Carrigan I don't know what more he can do. He was back to the bench because he played Wednesday and he was wrecked. Still got through 48 minutes of work and made 24 tackles.

He puts his body into every run- he only got nine touches in a loss but they couldn't handle him. He is breaking tackles every run.

Havent seen him playing nine, but I reckon he could, said so a couple of weeks ago.

We could also easily put Carrigan into the forward rotation. He has been outstanding for a kid his age in ISC quite honestly.

My thoughts exactly keep blooding them and flegler. Maybe oates to backrow and rotate with fafita to cover sua.

Given Su'A is gone, I'd really go with something like:

1. Boyd
2. Pearson
3. Roberts
4. Kahu
5. Isaako
6. Milford
7. KNik
8. Lodge
9. Macca
10. McGuire
11. TPJ
12. Glenn
13. Joffa (if fit)

14. Turpin
15. Thaiday
16. Carrigan
17. Fifita

I really think the Broncs have stuffed up on the Staggs situation, so no point playing a centre from the bench. Yes, he can play backrow, etc but Macca needs a break and goodness me, the side needs some help out of dummy half, so give Turps his shot and who knows, we might get some good service to get the team on the front foot for at least half of a game.

Is Oates injured?

Promoting so many rookies at once... surely it'll make it harder to keep them from the claws of Roosters, Titans and co?

If Broncs win this one it will again outline just how wasteful they have been this season. Yes, they can beat *some good teams. But what's the point if they're just gonna flop against the teams they probably should be beating?

Looks like they are gonna have to jag the premiership from outside the top 4. Though they have not looked capable of beating 4 good teams in a row all year - it is of course possible and I think pretty much all of us here would now just be hanging onto that hope. I know I am.. 4 Crazy good weeks of football when it counts = the most bitter sweet Broncos premiership in it's history. This forum would be going nuts haha.

It's nice too dream...

Until next week then fellas ;)

are either Carrigan or Flegler top 30 contracted. because if they aren't i doubt we will be able to play them (especially given the precedent set when Manly tried top play one of the rookie hookers but were denied permission, given they had other players in their top 30 capable of playing the position)

Nah, he’s just too beautiful for me to remember. Can we swap him for Fifita?

why would we want to ... he is not a backrower, he is a winger ... besides, he is having enough trouble holding the ball on the wing ATM, it will be much harder in the second row, especially since he will have less petrol in the tank from the higher defensive work load

I don't think Flegler's form has been as consistent as Carrigan. Doesn't do the little things right every game yet. Although he defended well yesterday and didn't miss a tackle but his form has dropped right off along with every Magpie in the last month.

The only positive about this season is the fact that when we've copped injuries, we've had more than handy replacements and found a couple of gems along the way.

Fifita has been good in his time in the NRL and I think he'll handle the loss of Su'A just fine.

Kahu back to wing or out of the side for now. I’d take Opacic over him just because he has a better defensive relationship with Milford. Kahu and Milford are just mush.

Since he has been getting some regular footy at Redcliffe he is finding his feet again and is in good form. Dont think its helped him not getting that consistent game time week in week out this year. Still wouldn't pick him over Kahu though yet, cant write of a quality player like him yet and I think Tom still needs games under his belt.

Not sure mate

So now 4 second rowers are long term injured and 1 centre/backrower. TPJ and Offa sound like maybes. Oates has to be pissed if still can’t get a game in backrow. Not saying I want him there but running out of wunderkund 18 year olds. Let him live or die by the sword. Kahu to wing. Would have to argue NRL needs to let us play Staggs since lost our ‘centre’ from last week and if Oates covering backrow. Failing that Opaic gets his last shot for Broncs.

For mine, provided he doesn't drop the bloody ball, Oates on the wing is fundamental to the team's chances in the games ahead. He is the winger we need and whether or not he wants to, or can, or will be a good back rower is irrelevant. His contribution to this team's future this season is on the wing. He's a game breaker and his kick returns are well, as good as any back rower and vital to our go forward.

Opacic for mine offers very little to this side when we need strike players out wide, or at least centres who can put away their wingers. Pity it can't be Staggs. I reckon he is something special and just what we need in the centres. He offers real strike and great defence.

Turpin on the bench. In some ways, I'd rather them swap and Macca to the bench.

As for the team overall, after the disorganised shit dished out last week, questions need to be asked about the team's organisation, discipline and attitude. It fucking sucks, and those responsible for those key team attributes ought to have their arses kicked.

The warriors game could be the final nail in the 2018 coffin. It's gonna be hard to cover so many injuries and expect the young guys to maintain a high level. You never know what they'll produce in the remaining games but I'm expecting a few heavy losses coming

Opacic has been badly used in my opinion. He has had ordinary games but never bad ones. Almost everyone else, on the other hand has had bad defensive lapses at one time or another. He has gone in and out of the team time and again for bird, staggs, kahu and none have been anyway near as consistent. (It's possible he was due a break, to recover though, but still)
Sure they are great attacking players, but our problem isn't attack. It's getting and keeping our opponents down the right end of the field, and wearing them down. You cant do that and have a leak in your defence.
We should be building a team from that view, and THEN refining with class in attack. Milford and knik are the wrong halves for that admittedly, but you work with what you have. Its our forwards time to shine in this team and that must be achieved by dominating possession and field position.
Whoever plays in the backs should be drilled to defend in their role within a team structure. Its what Melbourne excel in and what we are failing to do. Sua is a classic example of a square thrown into a square hole in that regard.
