NFL 2018 Discussion

It must suck to be so salty all the time.

At some point you need to give credit where he's due.

Yes - he was caught cheating years ago (even though every team was doing it), but it's not like he's cheated every year. Numbers speak for themselves.

ha ha calm down it's a joke. I don't really give a **** and I didn't realise we were all taking this so seriously.

If we are being all serious yes he is obviously a great coach and I give credit to that, for me cheating is cheating and while I admit he is among the best coaches to have ever been in the game he was still caught cheating.

Why should he be treated any differently to any other coach that has been caught cheating?

Craig Bellemy - results show that he is amongst the best coaches but will always have the stain of cheating associated with him. Correct me if I am wrong but I can't recall you ever chastising people for calling him a cheat? (apologies if you have and I missed it).

TBH I am probably a bit salty, as most fans are when another team other than their's has been caught cheating within their comp, this isn't anything new.

tl;dr: Full credit to BB, one of the best coaches but people are always going to be salty against a cheater, it's human nature.

It just gets old - it's the first thing everyone goes to. It's old. People need to move on. I know I quoted your post, but I wasn't actually aiming that at you, so please don't feel like I was attacking you or anything. It was more a general statement made in frustration.

Bellamy is a good example. You're right - I don't believe I have ever chastised anyone for calling him a cheat. I also happily remind my Storm mate of it every chance I get. That said, I also don't think what the Storm did, and what the Pats did are on the same level. Systematic rorting of a salary cap to the extent the Storm did is much worse than filming practice sessions - particularly given it's well documented that a lot of teams used the same tricks and it was just the Pats that were the unlucky ones that got caught.

My issue is not that people are critical of his past cheating, it's that it's literally the first thing that is brought up as a way to diminish current successes. The logic being that they cheat every year etc. Hatred of another team is a normal thing, but you can hate a team and not focus on something from 12 years ago. I hate the Jets and the Giants - but I hate them because they are rivals, and the Giants keep beating us in Super Bowls.

Saints were VERY unlucky.

Yup. Playoff heartbreak two years running, and this year it was something out of our control, which makes it that much worse. Still, had the chance to win it after the call and didn't, so we've got to wear it.

Drew's window is getting real tight now...

The Patriots are just ridiculous. You'd think that that kind of sustained success in this league is not possible (as demonstrated by each and every one of the thirty-one other teams), and here they are just rolling back into the big dance. You've got to respect them, even if it's grudging respect.

Felt so bad for the Saints. Deserved to win that game. Plus - Brees vs Brady would be awesome! Even in their twilight years.

Can't stand him, but nobody will ever come close to Bellechick. People credit Brady with everything, but to me it's Bellechick. Say what you want about cheating and such and lord knows I have said my fair share. But I can't think of a better coach in my lifetime in any sport.

With that said, C'mon Rams, you started this mess by letting the scumbags win in 01/02. End this shit.
As much as it pains me to (except for the last sentence), I have to agree with this. The guy knows his business, although it doesn't hurt to have Brady in the team...

Like any franchise who enjoyed long stints at the top, it takes a combination of great coaches and great players (especially the QB in the NFL) to be constantly good for so long.

Having said that, I hope the Rams annihilate them.

That's the thing. People go on about Brady waaaaaay too much. People forget that the first three rings he won, he wasn't considered an elite QB. Not to mention the QB's that succeeded in Bellechick's system while Brady was out and then went on to do nothing elsewhere.

Bellechick is so incredible as a coach that most people in the world believe that Brady is the greatest football player of all time. To me, that makes Bellechick untouchable.

So agree!

Why does no one blast the Saints for deliberately trying to target injured players or actually injure players? So much worse than that video incident one time 15 years ago.
Haters gonna hate.

I’m of the opinion that Belichick and Brady need each other to create this dynasty. Would Aaron Rodgers have been willing to take the pay cuts and share the glory with the coach the same was Tom has? I don’t think so. It’s been a wonderful combination that has just worked.

I love how Pat's fans just ignore Deflategate entirely. I guess it does sound better that way because you can claim it was only one act of cheating 15 years ago.

It was 45-7
Not the pats fault the colts couldn't tackle to save their lives. What does pressure of the balls being down 1 psi

The issue is that only one team knew they were going to be lighter and had the opportunity to prepare and practise with that. In a game where the ball being an inch too high or low can be the difference between a completion and a down, of course it matters.

Further to that if it didn’t matter then why would they have done it?

Honestly, people would have more respect for the Patriots and their fans if they actually fucking owned it.

Defllategate was a massive overkill. However the lies by Brady and then NE fans using it as a "Look how much we get screwed over by the NFL" just sums up the Patriots to me.

Congratulatons Pats fans, commiserations everyone else. It's a sad day.
