This thread may be a bit redundant with the amount of threads discussing what’s going on atm but I thought it would be good to gets everyone’s thoughts into one thread.

For me our major problems are a lack of true leadership in the middle and a lack of maturity and composure in the team.

So what do you guys think are the big problems with the team this year?

We don't try to score off bombs. We just let the bloke catch it then tackle him. From 40-50m out I understand. But when we are putting up bombs from 30m out they should be contested.

I would like to think that we just don’t currently have the cattle to perform Seibold’s plans and processes. Once he builds a team that will train and play to his structured approach and strict standard than we should be very successful.

Or maybe he just isn’t that good of a coach. Time will tell.

Agree with your post, but would add that the time to judge Seibolds coaching qualities, is when he has assembled his own team. Not now during a rebuilding stage.

I think its really, really simple. We dont hold the ball. We dont complete sets, we make too many errors and we miss too many tackles. Its got absolutely nothing to do with new structures, a different style of play or anything like that. If you do the four things i mentioned in the majority of games you play, even the great Queensland sides containing Locky, Thurston, Hodges, Inglis, Smith, Slater etc wouldnt be winning games. You need to earn the right to compete in games, and if you dont do the basics you wont win games. It really is as simple as that.

He didnt have his own team at Souths, but he did ok there. Just wondering why you might think he would be capable of moulding a side? His coaching record has been fairly mediocre apart from last year. In fact, i think one of his rivals for the Broncos job, Jason Demitriou has pretty much out coached him at every level apart from NRL ( i know thats the big one, @1910 could probably give some great background here though about JD's coaching compared to Seibs).

I've lost a lot of faith in our coach right now. I really dont think he needs to rebuild this team. A few tweaks here and there and maybe next year a couple of key players is all it would take.

Based on Seibolds one buy so far, Richie Kennar, do we even want him rebuilding our club?

I agree that wholesale changes don’t need to be made to this team, what tweaks would you make to the side?

I've probably done this before, lol, but this is my team i'd go with, with the players we currently have.

1 Bird
2 Oates
3 Roberts ( Boyd if we let Jimmy leave )
4 Staggs
5 Boyd ( Issako if we have to move Boyd )
6 Milf ( and stop him playing as the dominant half!! )
7 Dearden ( mainly because i think he is the one they are pinning their hopes on, let him develop )
8 Lodge
9 Macca
10 Haas
11 Fifita (on the right )
12 Gillo
13 Carrigan

14 Sua
15 TPJ
16 Flegler
17 Joffa.

That team to me makes best use of our squad, and the bench has genuine impact.

That team looks pretty good to me, I’m hoping Dearden can take over the genuine halfback role and push Milf out into second receiver where he’s most dangerous.

For me, in a perfect world one of the forwards (probably Sua) would drop off the bench for someone who could come on and give Macca a break and provide some spark around the ruck.
I’ve always thought Staggs could fill this role perfectly.

Comparing stats only takes you so far, but this is what we did yesterday:

And this is what we did against the Sharks:

Souffs did to us what we did to the Sharks. Just look at the huge difference on green highlighted cells.

Up until the 18-0 last night, I feel we were as good as them, possibly even better, but individual errors and flukes cost us dearly. After this we dropped our heads and souffs controlled the game easily enough for a comfortable win.

I feel that a lot of the current issues are due to mental weakness. We lack resilience in the face of adversity, and that is in my opinion due to the youth of the team, combined with a notorious lack of leadership.

I don't think we are failing that much as a team, but individuals are making crucial mistakes at the worst possible moment and being consistently punished for them against most of the teams we have played, which let's not forget, are all in the top 8 currently.

I'm not sure any coach, be it Bellamy, Robinson, Bennett, Walters or Seibold would survive our back 3 committing hara-kiri so often, so I am not about to blame Seibs for it.
I am seeing glimpses of the new structure being implemented (that Oates try last week was orgasmic stuff) and the necessary first step towards overhauling our spine has been taken.
I hope the next one (at this point I would swap Bird and Boyd) brings some more impact and support to the team from the back, but we need to complete sets and more importantly, we cannot keep dropping balls and being so passive in defense.

Anyway, as I've said since the beginning, what I want to see is progress and an improved team towards the business end of the season. I think we will have that.

Attitude & heart win you games and we don't have a god damn bar of it this year and sadly I feared this might be the case this year with a young forward pack. We don't have a single forward leader that is capable of chewing a few players out for their performances. Corey Parker would have punched a few of the players last night I reckon.

Its worth mentioning we did that against a reserve grade sharks team who had a shocker.

How many times is it worth mentioning though? With the phrase 'reserve grade sharks'? To hold any team to six after the shambles of our start to the season is worth unqualified praise. Plenty of dangerous players still in that sharks team, Broncos were just far better.

It’s worth mentioning when they’re being directly compared to another team.

We were better but the quality of opposition was worlds apart.

None the less, enough of the reserve grade non-sense. Six points was the impressive part, against any team.

Not when all of their strike weapons were out.
