Round 11 Discussion

Since this evening when Read and Badel broke the story.

The Maroons stocks are so low in the centres and at dummy half they have little choice. It's either pick Mbye or go with Granville or Milford, neither of whom provide any versatility.

Why not just play Munster in the centres and Milford in the halves? Munster's strength is his running game and he's a strong defender, he'd be much better than Morgan in the backs. This isn't even a who's better in the 6 comparison, just what would suit the team.

Morgan + Fifi on the bench gives you cover in all positions, McGuire can also cover hooker in a worst case scenario. Also, you know QLD is in a really bad state when Hunt is apparently a walk up start given his 'performances' last year and his current form. I would deadset prefer Mahoney or Turpin at 9 than Hunt who WILL get rolled by the huge NSW middles.

If NSW don't whitewash this series they're kidding themselves.

EDIT: plus Milf has been in great form since he got a real halfback to take the slack.

Wallace played tough tonight. I know a lot here don't rate him very highly but he's still young and getting better each year. There's a lot I like about his game and yes, there's room for improvement but I'd love to have him, Haas and Lodge in my team.

I'd be absolutely ropeable if we dropped any of our forwards for him if we had him in our top 30.

If TPJ's hit on Cronk was late then JWH's hit on Ponga was 2 weeks overdue. Sorry but you're wrong mate. The fact the tackle wasn't even cited shows how fucking inconsistent the refereeing is in this sport.

TPJ's wasnt late either

I dont consider either late
Fair call dude.

My feelings are that if TPJ missed a few weeks then JWH deserves at least the same. It all ties back to my issues on consistent refereeing.

If JWH escapes unpunished, then you surely see the unfairness in the NRL?

This really puts our win last week into perspective. Roosters obviously aren’t travelling that well if the knights can touch them up like this
Of course you couldn't wait to find a way to diminish last week's performance.

Could it be that they were spent from last week's intense game after a very short turnaround, compounded by the fact they were without both their first choice (and only) halves within a few minutes?
I know it doesn't suit the Seibold is shit narrative, but still possibly something to consider if one's not completely obtuse...

Yeah I can agree with that I guess re inconsistency. JWH may still get charged

Cronk must be injured. If not it was very disrespectful to their opposition to rest him. Or maybe oldman Cronk just can't keep up anymore. He even got a 10 minute rest last game he played in.

Wasn’t high or late. He was offside though.
I'm as reasonable as it gets and it was late. He had ample time, absolutely plenty of time to either stop or at least back right off and not follow through. I'm well aware of slow motion footage and how it changes things but in real time he could have easily avoided the strong contact.

Just on Wallace it seems others close to the action rate him so maybe they're all wrong and you're right but I'm with them. The last few minutes of the Titans game showed him doing what Webcke always did and that was taking repeated hit ups, hard running hitups even when the game was done and dusted. Origin was just around the corner and he gave it no consideration, no thought of self preservation. I liked that.

"We are the Tobin's from Randwick"

I'm gonna use that, that's gold. Anyone messes with me and I'll get the Tobin family on to you.

I don’t disagree, except for the short turn-around bit which a few people have said so far. It was a full 7 days. Pretty standard turn around, really.
The Suncorp game was on a very short turn-around, I should have clarified better.
That kind of intensity on an already weary team from a game 5 days earlier and the travel added would have drained them physically and emotionally for the Knights game.
Feeling that the Knights wouldn't be as difficult a hurdle, then losing both your game controlling players on top of it, against a team on the rise waiting to ambush them, was just a bridge too far...

I hope we don't suffer the same fate in Auckland.

JWH charged with a grade 1 dangerous contact head/neck.

Due to loading, he will only miss 1 game. Which is a fucking joke.

So they acknowledge that he made contact with the head/neck but only got a grade 1 while TPJ got a grade 2...

Was actually a bit disappointed with the chookpen this weekend, I think they know they got smashed to the point they can't blame a conspiracy. It's alot more entertaining after a narrow loss.
