PLAYER Darius Boyd Discussion

Big fan of Darius the man, big fan of the player he was. Thank you for your service.

That being said, every game he plays he is destroying his legacy. Do the right thing Darius and stand down so the club doesn't have to do it.

I will no longer take this team seriously until someone else is at fullback.

Tesi Niu could actually play fullback to a better standard for us. People will say he's too young and inexperienced etc.. Still couldn't do any worse than Boyd

People are saying he is too young because he is too fucking young, he legally can not play.

Full credit to the Broncos captain: he's kept us entertained all season with his comically dire lack of effort, interspersed with occasional flashes of brilliance.

Some say he's more of a leader off the field. Others would like him to stay there.

What are your thoughts?

I can’t like this post because it’s so sad. How does he survive when he’s too scared to tackle?

The same problem occurred at my high school. There were teachers there that had no passion for the job but they couldn't get sacked.

God help some of you cockwombles when you get older and your body starts giving out on you.

It's such a tough situation. If he wasn't captain I have no doubt he'd have been shifted to the centres or dropped entirely. But he is, so it's not a straightforward decision for Seibold. I suspect the feeling at the moment is that Boyd has earned the right to be given more latitude than the James Roberts of this world.

It's a tough call for Darius to make himself, as well. You want to go out on top and on your own terms, and I can imagine that he's hoping that there is some kind of miraculous reversal in form so that he can do just that. But I can't see that happening, so there's a tough decision coming for someone. I'd have a lot of respect for him if he put up his hand even just for a positional switch. Depth at fullback is a worry, but he's not the future so we might as well start trying out alternatives.

Will playing him in the centres solve anything? He will be targeted and carved up. He’ll concede 5 or 6 line breaks per game.

Lucky for us we chose careers that don't depend on us performing athletically at elite levels.

I hear Siebold mention accountability alot. Where is Boyd's goddam accountability? How can teammates trust him. Team, Teammates, Yourself..... time to retire Boyd.

Cmon mate. I'm 35 and my body is already giving out, but I am not receiving big money in a professional sporting competition letting down the team and the fans through what my body can no longer do.

The only people I let down as my agility and speed decline is my doubles partner at social tennis once a week.

I want to hear what Darius thinks of his efforts before I rush to judgement.

That's not an excuse. He's paid to be a professional athlete and he's not. He needs to be dropped. Call me a cockwomble again mate.

You're a cockwomble. Although why you ask me to call you one again is beyond me. I'd guess you just want me to do it to throw your weight around, but I did as you asked anyway.

And I'm not saying people can't be critical of him. At times he deserves it ( and so do others ). But Why does there have to be such disrespect towards a bloke who has done a lot for this club. You can be critical without the disrespect.

Like I just said, I don't mind the critisicm, it's the disrespect I can't stomach.

I said it elsewhere, but he is meeting all the markers the coach is setting down for him. If he feels he is doing what the coach is asking, whats he to do? I do think somebody needs to pull him aside and have a chat, but I'd say nobody is.
