Good news!

Also, you just know those quotes in the last paragraph are genuine quotes from Badel.

I can just see the little dweeb dribbling that out in his 30 seconds of fame on 360.

Anyway, my dislike for the slimy weasel aside, as I said, good news!

If he can get his handling right, $500k a year is a steal for what Oates can provide. Getting our sets off to a good start with decent metres and a fast PTB, as well as finishing that I really don't believe can be matched. 10/10, would sign again.

He's not worth much more put it that way.
As capable of putting in a 10 as a 0/10 performance but he's one of my favourite players regardless.

Just please, learn to not collapse after making one mistake FFS. I guess it's symbolic of our entire team though.

When you consider he was being offered close to 700k per year by some sydney clubs (i think cantebury offered 750k last year), it shows a fair bit of loyalty to the club and team which is rare.

His TPA ceiling is way high. Will be easily getting more than the money on offer in Sydney. smart move by him.

It's not the big market, third party deals are only 2.5% of the 150 million spent on players- $4 million is it.

Broncos players had $800,000 across the club in 2018.

205 agreements across 94 players is it. I think when guys earned less money they were more diligent in sourcing them but now they get 500K why do I need to bother for an extra $75,000 to do an ad?

I wonder if they include cars or boats ect. In the value

Oatesy's already an ambassador for Brisbane Marine and Austral Volkswagen so I'd expect he gets his car and boat separately from his contract. He's got a pretty decent setup too, I wouldn't want to have to pay for it myself.

True.
I sorta meant his career here in radio/tv etc - think it works in his favour to stay in Brizzy for a couple of more years.

I can't believe athletes in Australia aren't seeking endorsement deals... in the US the pro athletes make 2-3 times more from their endorsements than they do on their actual salary

I was shocked to see the Broncos have a boot sponsorship... every athlete in the NBA seemingly has their own multi million dollar deal with a shoe company and a signature shoe.

There's literally nobodies on Insta making thousands by taking a fucking photo with some merch.

Oz athletes are just fucking lazy...

Yes and no. There are some pretty big differences between Canada Jr and here. The seppos have all those major companies based in their country, with 300 million cashed up fatsos and a global audience. People on every continent could tell you about Michael Jordan and he retired yonks ago. Whereas for footy players we have an audience of ten to twenty million and none of those big shoe or apparel brands are actually based here and our media would much rather find some way to pronounce the code as being in crisis rather than actually promote it. Plus you can wear basketball shoes as an everyday thing, not quite the same with footy boots.

Lots of the players have their own boot sponsership, you can normally tell if they are constantly wearing the newest model, the boot sponsorship (from puma I think) is more for the younger players that can’t get a endorsement deal

pleased to hear this news; can defo become another 1 club player at broncos....wonder if he has a "play second rower" clause in it..??
