NEWS Broncos star’s horrific fall from grace

Is this where White and Bennett fell out? Did White replace Bennett with someone he can push around?

Isn’t this what happened at the Titans with Hayne and resulted in their coach being fired?
There's no shred of evidence to the tweet or where it came from

I’m curious, assuming it’s all true, how much influence Karl Morris is having (if any) and if White is just the ‘mouthpiece’ / sacrificial lamb. Because isn’t that all White really is with stuff like this? He’s the CEO, but he still answers to the board, no?

I read an article on nrl.com and it was Alex Glenn talking about wanting a 2 year contract extension and Seibold vouching for him to Paul White to get him a new contract. I thought it was interesting, considering this tweet regarding who is making the decisions at the club.

From NRL.com:

"Seibs has really been battling hard to keep me and said that he wanted me to know that he is really vouching hard to keep me at this club," Glenn said.

"He’s had to make some tough decisions in order to do that, with the likes of letting players go this season. He has put in a really good word to Whitey and vouched for the importance I have for this team and the values I bring to this club. Hearing that from your new head coach is a humbling experience to be honest. I am honoured that he wants to keep me."

Well if the broncos (white?) are dumb enough to let Glenn go there is a good chance he’ll end up at souffs.

Well maybe they think they can keep it from getting out (which it will) so they would be crazy.
Otherwise if the choice is between having a lame duck coach on a 5 yr deal because they don’t want to drop a player who doesn’t deserve to be there because he is so highly paid or just having him play in ISC and everybody moves on well I know what is the worse look public company or not.
See, that's my thinking right there. I can't see it that they'd hobble the coach and remove his autonomy and if Seibold wanted Boyd in reggies, he'd be in reggies and consequences be damned. I don't believe the story or at least I don't have enough evidence to put any faith in it's veracity.

I just hope you’re right.

a good majority of this forum has been calling for us to offload Glenn for something like 2 years, lol

Glenn should stay.. and be made captain.
If there's anything this side needs at the moment is a forward as Captain. Someone who can get in there and grind away to inspire
He captained our nyc team to a grand final and was in fact our youngest ever captain at 22 when he stood in for Darren Lockyer in 2011 - the year Paul White took over from Bruno Cullen and Anthony Griffin replaced Ivan Henjak.
He’s got runs on the board and would not let us down.

We have let so many go this year that we need him now for his experience.

Glenn’s career is an interesting one to look at.

I’m the first to admit I’ve flipped-flopped more times than I can remember around his position in the team over the last few years.

Remember, it was only a few years ago he publicly said he wasn’t treating his career professionally enough, eating shit food all the time and not treating his body right.

He’s matured and become the consummate professional that he is today, but he’s the first to say that wasn’t always the case.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s never been a bad player or trainer, but as good a player and as strong a leader as he has always been, he hasn’t always been the absolute pro that he is these days. These things, particularly leadership, probably just came to him naturally and he almost didn’t have to try as hard as some others to achieve them.

I guess it’s best summed up when you think about how he made his way back to the peak of rugby league after he was told he’d never play again and how that showed his strength, spirit and determination. But, like so, so many others, once he arrived, he probably got a little comfortable and complacent.

Nowadays though, he is the epitome of what a Bronco should be and rightly so is being held in such esteem.

As the team dynamic stands, I don’t want him going anywhere. But if the sliding doors had have worked out a little differently over the last few years, I still maintain he probably would have been surplus to our needs.

As I said, his is a very interesting career to look over.

I thought that was fascinating too. And a telling comment that the Coach has to go in and put in a good word and beg the board to keep a player.

2 things jumped out at me: 1.) Why does the coach have to beg for a player, and they still don't know if he will stay.
2.) Why is Alex Glenn saying this to the media, it's like a little "look over here, this is what's going on" without actually saying it.

Good Lord.

If true this would indicate that the broncos recruitment & retention area is not functioning very well.
Might also be a pointer to why the team is also struggling.

I think Blair had a lot to do with Glenn's positive changes to preparation and training.

if you spend any amount of time listening to Glenn steak...its easy to see how the young brigade we have can relate to him....we can do a lot worse then keeping glenn around to continue to exert that type of influence on these young kids...

What's D Lockyer's role within the club these days? Does the club legend hold any responsibility for the current mess we find ourselves in? His evaluation of Boyds form earlier in the year was certainly worrying to me.
