Are you a goat in wolfs clothing. If we didn't have a kicker no one would give a ****.

No, just stating facts. They dropped 8 points. if they dropped half of those, we still lose. I can remember the days Parkers missed conversions cost us winnable games, and i bet the Sharks are filthy 3 weeks in a row their shit kickers have cost them wins ( not that i really care about the sharks ). We battle hard, we had some luck, both good and bad, we were gutsy, we were tough, but should really have lost that game. Like i said before, i'm happy with our commitment and our toughness. If we keep that up we will be fine.

Anyone for Coates to FB once we are fully fit and firing?
Think he might be one day, Milf will be our FB when he comes back next week BUT, after to-nite, I have a feeling, anyone who is not fit and firing might have a job finding a position in our team anywhere going forward. Seibold did say those who do their job in their jersey will get to keep it.
IMO that is a thin veiled shot at all, including our origin players, to buck up or buck off.

Go the Seibs!

Come on now Wolfie you can't be serious.

"If is a very small word with a very big meaning"...

If, morris got done for double movements, if Coates try was given, if we let them score their tries through the middle, if we made less errors. We won, we weren't meant too, we had 4 debutants (out of the 11 we have had this year), we played like rookies but we wanted the win more.

IF they scored 30 I get the feeling we would have scored 31, the debutants wanted it more than the sharks

As good as it was to win, we shouldnt forget that if Sharks had a kicker, they could quite easily have had another 8 points and beaten us. Even if we did lose i wouldnt have been too upset because we toughed that game out.
Mate we were a million to one to win and lost more players during the game... you don't win against those odds unless some luck is involved.

At least there wasn't any dodgy reffing that got us the win and give the media ammunition... it was simply because the sharks don't have a kicker that's their issue. They also lost because of goal kicking last week... so it starts to move into a coaching decision not to have it sorted out and if it isn't it will be a weakness of theirs for the rest of the year.

Thats why i did say we had luck on both sides of the coin. I actually think they got the Coates try right they disallowed, and i think they got the Morris one wrong. When we compete like we did, i dont generally have too many gripes with how we are going.

There is no doubting though we had a bit of luck with the Sharks being inept goal kickers. But i think we earned it anyway.

And we had a number of debutants in the side with a host of first grade players out. We took our chances and they didnt
We have lost many games over the years due to sloppy goal kicking

With Coates tonight, was he maybe just a bit guilty of trying too hard and maybe being a bit cute about it? He looked solid when tested under the high ball early, and then launched 2 outstanding aerial efforts that by rights should definitely have resulted in his 1st and 2nd NRL tries rather than just his 1st, so the blood would have been pumping. Then he got found out a bit defensively, made a couple of errors, and had a silly looking air swing when just grabbing the ball or diving on it was the go. At least he looked filthy at himself each time he stuffed up, so the effort was there. Compared with Farnworth though... Herbie just went about his business, seemed a lot more composed even though he didn't get the same attacking opportunities that Coates did.

I'm keen to see a lot more of both of them going forward, but Herbie would be my pick to see again next week if we have to choose.

As the great Winston Wolf said in Pulp Fiction

There's still work to be done. I still want to see the look of Milf at one, Dearden at 6, SOS at 7 and Turpin at 9. I think the changing of the guard is now. I also realised that Glen is without question a better footballer now than Gillette. Yeah, yeah, different sides on the field but Glenn actually is the better leader, an equal defender and more potent offensively. While Boyd wasn't terrible by any means, he still isn't up to it.

I'm amazed that some fans would pick holes in that victory. Eight rookies including 3 debutantes and another playing his first game for the club along with two veterans whose careers are on life support against a side containing the likes of Johnson, Gallen, Prior, Dugan, Morris, Moylan etc. The Sharks should have won by 50.

Yes, there was some luck involved and yes, the Sharks were awful and yes, it was a low standard game. But in a season of woe in a club whose immediate future is bleak, today's effort was nothing short of miraculous. Downplaying the performance is a bit unfair. It may not impact the season much but it may have been a little peak into the future.

I really think Coates is not bad defensively he just looks out of position. Does he not normally play centre cause if so that would explain why he was always stacked defensively in the centre position rather than on the wing. He wasn't back far enough for kicks. He should either play centre but still be used for catching kicks, or take a spell in qcup to learn the wing while Oates and Farnworth play wings. To me the obvious choice with Shiba gone is staggs (GOAT) and Coates in the centres and Farnworth and Oates on wings. Then putting Gillett back on the right hand side will shore up the defence further. Seems also obvious that turps and SOS should be our 6 and 7 for a while and run Milf at fullback. Macca and Seggy to share the 9. Turps is a super intelligent footballer. How has he not played NRL before?

What about our bad luck and the timing of the injuries this season? It has been UTTERLY brutal to say the least.

Man, I was cut when Bird went down. I could not believe it when Dearden went down. I'd lost all hope when hearing Milford was injured, and then on top of that O'Sulivan got injured today as well. But... despite all this AND the origin players being out we got the win.

At this stage we can't really be pointing the finger at Seibold anymore can we? The guy is just trying to navigate through an absolute train wreck of bad luck and I wish him all the best.

It's been a total rabble of a season but at least everyone is getting a go in first grade. There is hope for the future and I aint gonna rip into Seibold just yet.

Come on, I’ve read your posts, you’re better than that. When we have a win shouldn’t go looking for reasons why we shouldn’t have. We had a rookie winger that didn’t stay on his wing and Morris - twice his age - run around him ( not over him ) and scored a hat trick in 10mins. There’s 12 points and we won’t bring up the no try.

Mate in all honesty I get your point but it was more than just goal kicks that lost them the game. Baby Broncos maybe but I'd like to think this is a huge cultural turning point for the club, coach and supporters. We needed it.

Great win by the boys. Only watched the second half and had no sound so couldn't hear what the commentators were saying but **** me, the Sharks are a grubby side. Just seemed like they were niggling all second half.

I think the no try was a fair call tbh. Fairly sure Coates touched it.

I cant change that even though im happy with the win, and im very happy with how we played, i cant help feeling its still a game we could have lost. Thats probably quite a positive in a lot of ways if we can pull games like that out of the bag when we need to. I'm not saying we didnt deserve the win either because we did. Sadly, this side has pissed me off royally this year and i currently dont have much trust in them to keep up this level of performance. If they did, i probably wouldnt have my glass half empty view.

Wins like these are the start of team building cultures. The feel good factor for everyone involved is priceless.

TPJ leting slip his future is secured was nice to hear and his mum's home cooking is obviously the missing ingredient to his form.

Nothing changes with fuckin Sydney officials though. They let the Sharks knock on at the ptb just before they pinged Seggy. Coates stripped in a two man tackle. Morris second try was a deadset double movement. And to steal the X man's second try from him was typical of the NSW bias.

Everyone of the NSW commentary team tipped the Sharks too. Get that up ya Joey.

P.S. Macca is still a spud.

Thank you, I thought i was losing my shit. I was screaming at the tellie it was a classic double movement and nobody even mentions it not even on here unless I missed it.

Ok so a lot of you guys did mention it, I was beginning to think my bias had reached a new level when no commentator even suggested it might be a double movement.

Coates had a shaky debut but has a higher ceiling
His defence was shaky. He drifted in and didn’t stay on his wing allowing Morris to get on his outside and score. The experience will be invaluable.

Great post.

Farnworth has a bit of an under the radar belter of a debut. All the exciting plays (for and against us) happens down Coates’ wing so for me at least he had most my attention.

Herbie however put out some great stats:

13 runs
107 run metres
33 post contact metres
3 tackle breaks
0 missed tackles
0 errors

I don’t know if he can play right wing but when Oates returns he has earned the other wing. Coates still looks as though he needs a little more experience before stepping up.
He was right wing in 20s
