I was really, really impressed with SOS, it was the first time I’ve seen him play, fingers crossed his injury isn’t to bad. He was walking on it without crutches so that’s always a good sign.
Lodge had a captains knock and the team lifted when he fired up. He done really well to not start throwing punches after that knee to the head.
Besides Staggs brain fade in the last few minutes, he was excellent, he was running around like a headless chook cleaning up all the slop.

i must be in the minority, because i haven't thought that much of SOS ... until the first half yesterday.

if he can build on that then i wouldn't mind seeing him partner Dearden in the halves (Milford at FB)

Amazing what an opportunity can do. Too often young players are judged on their intrust super cup form even when their respective clubs are struggling.

i wasn't judging him on his ISC form ... my opinion was based on his performances in the NRL thus far.

i don't watch enough ISC to form an opinion based on that

There was a moment in the match where someone put a kick in to Moylan and he dropped it, Broncos regathered but got a scrum instead of play on, what’s up there? Should have been a try.
Yeh if SOS in the process of regathering had not knocked it on we would have been fine, but that's why it was pulled up.

It's funny how they saw this but missed Flanagan kneeing Lodgey in the head. Only when he took exception to it did they react.

Lodgey should get bonus merit points for showing restraint and the grub shoul get at least ten weeks. Kneeing someone in the head when they are totally unprotected and unable to protect themselves is such a cowardly dog act.

Double knockon

That’s where the problem really lies, Turpin wasn’t releasing in time to allow Shibasaki and Coates to man up so they were always defending an overlap.
Yep , but people love to point the finger at Shiba. He let his man get on his outside e few times, not saying Shiba didn't either but it was a domino affect. Morris will take you to pieces all day which he did.

It wasn't a fair try.

This is the interpretation of the double movement rule.

If you take a look at where the ball was when the arm carrying the ball touched the ground, if he does not promote the ball, he ends up just short. The momentum would not have carried him far enough for the ball to end up over the goal line. That's a double movement and that's the way they have been ruling it this season.
Everything you said is true except for how they've been ruling it all year.

I've seen a few blatant double movements this year which they've given a try. Most of the time they seem to just agree with the referee based on whether it's sent up as try or no try and then use footage to try and justify that decision.

They used to be very good with double movement rulings but they've turned to shit this year in getting them right

Ruled to have been lost in the ruck rather than in the tackle. If that happens the play stops.

It's basically the same as if they lost it in the process of playing the ball... the opposition aren't allowed to play advantage in those situations.

No it wasn’t. Momentum carried him over, he was still sliding. Had his body stopped and he moved his arm, yes - but he was still sliding along.

Fair try.

his arm hit the ground, and he stretched out to score. the fact that his body was moving is irrelevant ... once his ball carrying arm hit the ground, it needed to remain in the same position and have momentum take the ball into the in goal, that didn't happen, he stretched out and placed the ball over the line.

what got me is that not a single commentator even mentioned a possible double movement

We now have 9 more rounds to season end of which, we ONLY play in SHITney once in Round-25. We play at home, Suncorp mostly for the reminder of the year and what bonus it would be if the playing group can take away the win and build on it with less errors and more intensity. Boy, we're in for a ride for the back end of the season.

Personally, I want to see us getting the W in Round-20(Storm) & 23(Souffs) especially, R-23.
The way I see it, we could win all 9 remaining games and make up for the season we missed out on so far. Go the Broncos. Explode away!!!

Add the Cows in there and I'm happy.

Haas deserves a big wrap.
The bloke is so consistent and not a lot is made of it. We know he is good, but he is still so young, He runs hard, tackles well and post contact meters are unreal. The bloke can play, hopefully he just keeps getting better and better. I’m glad he is around long term. Was good to see him get a meat pie yesterday also.

Quick summary.

Shibasaki - Unlucky with the injury and I hope he recovers well, but glad he is out of the team.

SOS - Very unlucky with injury, was one of our best before he went off. If he was a bit quicker he would be a very good player. Made several half breaks but his lack of speed means he doesn't make a clean break and he is a bit weak in sliding defence. Hopefully in off seaosn he can do some sprinting work or something...

Coates - Great try and unlucky to not get a second. Seems another Corey Oates style tall gumbie that isn't good at cleaning up in the back. Centre would remove that issue a bit with less need to clean up grubbers. Was decent.

Farnsworth - Bit small but had really good leg drive and decent metres I thought. Another off season and a bit more muscle would do him well.

Carrigan - Hopefully this bloke sits out of the 17 for a bit once origin is over. He runs around like a headless chook half the time and was the one who rushed up and missed leading to one of the sharks tries. I really don't rate him based on what i've seen.

Glenn - Hurry up and resign him. He wouldn't be on gigantic money but he was huge tonight and marked up very well at centre. He is a player who you can't question his effort each week, and he is the ultimate professional. He is fit, strong and very popular amongst the players and should have been captaincy before Boyd.

Boyd - The big one... Great first half. Did more in the first half of this game than he has done all season. Got involved, made decent hitups, actually returned kicks and was solid without being outstanding. Second half when the going got tough, he wasn't really anywhere to be seen, it was players like TPJ, Lodge and Glenn that really stood up. Jury is still out on Boyd. He needs to back it up, and he needs to do it for 80, not 40.

Otherwise, very impressed with the win. I thought we had a couple of calls go against us, but I suppose the luck evened out with their terrible goal kicking. Great effort from a young squad. Trouble is now can we back it up and get another winning streak together.

I had a very close look when that happened. He actually copped 2 knees, a little left one from Woods and the big swinging right knee from Flanagan...

Understand why he was filthy about it.

lol why do people keep saying that Farnworth is too small?? He’s 190cm/100kg. He’s bigger than almost every player to play in our backline this year - Boyd, Shiba, Glenn, Roberts, Staggs, Bird, Isaako, and Milford.

He’s also bigger than the entire sharks backline today except for Dugan who is apparently about the same size.

His weight is there, but if you look at him he doesn't seem super solid yet. Probably due to being so young still. He is tall, and his height and legs would be the main contributors to his weight. His upper body isn't very big.

His frame is quite thin and he could do with more muscle. But, he certainly didn’t play like he was limited by his body.

Sure he could put on some more mass but he definitely isn’t too small. His stats appear to support that too. At no point did I see him being manhandled or drive back.

He just has a rangy build but so did Hodges, and a young Folau.

Turpin knocked on picking the ball up
It was a double knock on

Seeing footage of Coates and the others accepting their jerseys(Hancock handed them out), so awesome to see and hear how much it means to them.
