State of Origin Game III - NSW vs QLD

Morning after and I’m still wondering why papaali and offa were benched for so long...

The forward use was weird last night. When it was obvious our big guys were buggered and ineffective, replacements didn't seem to come.

Overall, a far better result than I expected. Freddy has a good team though, and he seems to have them in a good mindset.

The 4 minute walk from their new centre was the biggest load of wank I have seen from that stupid state though.

1. Kalyn Ponga
2. Corey Oates (Valentine Holmes)
3. Hymel Hunt
4. Marion Seve
5. Dane Gagai
6. Cameron Munster
7. Daly Cherry-Evans (c)
8. Josh McGuire
9. Jake Friend
10. Josh Papalii
11. Ethan Lowe
12. Matt Gillett
13. Jai Arrow

14. AJ Brimson
15. David Fifita
16. Joe Ofahengaue
17. Christian Welch

I think this team could give the series a shake next year, assuming that young guys continue to improve (Ponga, Oates, Hunt, Seve, Munster, Arrow, Brimson, Fifita, Ofahengaue, Welch all under 25)

I would propose Corey Thompson be replaced with Corey Oates as Thompson gives 100% every play every game unlike Oates regular rocks & occasional diamonds.

Welp, that was hard to watch. I was relaxed at the start, thinking we had no hope. At half time I was stoked - we were in it with a good chance to win.

But we lost that as much as NSW won it. Stupid errors and penalties, and **** me are we weak on the edges... Still, I said I'd be happy if we got within 6 or 8...so I'm comfortable enough I suppose.

Oh, and props to whoever told the refs to stick their whistles in their pocket after half time, too. And this game wants to be taken seriously...what other professional game has such a massive change in interpretation even between games, let alone between HALVES IN THE SAME GAME? It's amateur hour, honestly.
Phil fucking Gould thinking he is God's gift to Rugby League and that when he speaks, he speaks for all. He's a complete and utter turd.

Well, that sucked.

Ethan Lowe though, what a game. Deserves first crack at starting next year. Best on field for Qld.

I agree. I don’t really rate him but he was excellent last night.

This is the unfortunate nature of being a Queensland Origin fan. Apart from the previous decade where we had an absolute once in a century run of talent all at the same time, Queensland will go back to needing basically everything to go right for them in order to win an Origin series.

The facts are that NSW have an overwhelming advantage in player numbers, which means in general they have an advantage in overall talent. Queensland at absolute full strength can usually field a team that's competitive, but once you throw in a couple of injuries or you get a few shitty calls in a match, the gap becomes just too difficult to overcome.

Nothing summed this up for me better than the judiciary last week. Even when NSW make mistakes and pick the wrong players (Sims) the judiciary still manages to work out in their favour and they get a replacement in Klemmer who is even better than the first bloke.

Compare that to Queensland losing Arrow and being down to literally choosing which club football bench Prop is actually left standing to replace him. The gap between our best 17 and the guys below them is just light years in a lot of key positions.

We desperately need players like Flegler, Carrigan, Grant, Gilbert etc to kick on to give us some hope for the future. Flegler has that bit of lunatic in him that will make him great for Origin

For qld to be great again, the broncos need to be great first. I’m all for broncos rising first before the qld origin team though.

From watching the replay of the last try, not only was mbye way out of position but he only jogged back as Ferguson took the ball.. if he sprinted he would have had Tedesco.

Hopefully QLD can finish off a clean linebreak next year. We made plenty this series but either had no one to pass it to or Chambers stuffed it up lol

I'd play Holmes in the centres in that side and retain Oates. Oates was better than Gagai over the duration of the series IMO.

Cameron Munster hasn't produced a try assist since Game 3, 2017.

That's just unacceptable.

He's a running FB or centre. He works at 5/8 for the storm because they have Smith.

In 12 origin appearances he has produced 1 bloody flick pass... Ffs this almost proved how shit he's been. Imagine milford took 12 games to produce 1 try assist? FIVE YEARS. How many chances does he get? So he's been shit because he hasn't got a chance at half? Let's give it to him then aye! If you haven't noticed, he will never get that chance and nor should he, so if he's shit as a bench sub, he's shit as a centre, he's nowhere near our best fullback or half, so where does he fit? 12 appearances and he's produced about 40 minutes of OK football with 1, maybe 2 highlights from a "game breaker"... Imagine the uproar if milford did the same, he was OK his last game then went off injured and he got blasted in the media and by fans
calm down mate. I just corrected your original post that said he'd done nothing.
I agree he isnt ideal but we are shit out of options.
I disagree he's been rubbish in all those games as well. He's had some very good moments mixed with mostly solid efforts and some bog ordinary moments.
Chambers has been equally poor for a long time particularly in D and he's a career centre.
We just don't have class in the centres.
Not sure why you are comparing Milf because no one mentioned him at all , bit random tbh.

Corey Horsburgh, Thomas Mikaele & Josh Kerr are another lot who could be pushing for contention in the next couple of years.

I'm calm, I just like capitals lol.. Can't disagree with what you said about Chambers for sure. Milf I mentioned because he is a spine player who could/would be used in the same role as Morgan as a bench utility yet he is given much, much, much less leeway for his performances than Morgan has been allowed
