NEWS Boyd addresses NRL future after shock Broncos switch

On here , not sure if was smokin Joe or someone else who has inside info .can't remember his name atm but is always on the money.

Ok wonder what they think next season will be like.

We need a half that can do the long kicking to the corners. Milford’s main kick of choice this season is an attempted spiralling bomb. If not spiral it’s a stock standard up and under.
Agree but our 7 needs the kicking game, that's why it's strange we didn't hold onto T boyd. He had the superior kicking game imo

I think we have seen why they thought that. All the released players and blooding of jrs, seibold getting a feel for who he wants where.
They obviously have a plan to build to a premiership and are happy to have some lean seasons, and this was all about putting the peices in place. That's just my opinion but roger wilco said that they weren't expecting us to threaten the top teams, and definitely not be a premiership contender.

Luke Lewis interviewed Darius on ABC radio today.

Boyd said he was determined to see out the remaining two years on his deal, providing his body held up.

He also said he was enjoying the change to 5/8.

I think Boyd is doing as he pleases, he has done more for the club than the one year coach has ever done in Broncs colours. He won't be dictated to by the coach and will only agree to changes if it suits him being in the run on side.

Captain and spine regular till 2021, alongside Macca...and the premiership drought drags on :brickwall:

Yes I have heard that (but don’t necessarily agree with it) my main interest is when do they think we will be a premiership contender?

Not sure but I can't see us winning it without a better spine.

Funny how last year we had two running halves that couldn't organise a root in a brothel and this year we are looking at ending up with two organising halves that couldn't side step a rock while walking. Hoping there's more to Deardons running game than we've seen so far. Or else Boyd gets switched with someone a little more fleet footed.

If boyd remains at 6, i think SOS may be the better option for halfback. He seemed more willing to challenge the line and try to create something.

Dearden may have those skills but just not had the opportunity to do so.

From the small bit of SOS I saw he could find space but didn't really have a step. Couple of times he could have had line-breaks if he had a step. He just seemed to run straight.

When is sos due to be back from injury?

If Boyd is gonna be the other half, I'd prefer SOS too, just based on what I've seen so far. Boyd pretty much plays like an extra fullback as a half, so having him on one side, Milf on the other and SOS more in the middle, like he's shown in his 2 previous games.

That said, I have no idea how Dearden would go doing the same role, we've only seen him glued to the right edge so far.

I liked both Dearden and SOS but of the two SOS was way more exciting and probably had the best debut at halfback we've had in twenty years even if only fir half a game.

We looked a different side with him, we looked to be a threat in every set of six. We looked controlled and a bit pedestrian with Dearden but it's quite possible that he was playing to instructions. Truthfully, the way Dearden played we could simply have abandoned the position altogether and whomever was closest could have done a job because he didn't really take many risks or generate opportunities.

I think it's just more that SOS is older than Dearden and has a bit more confidence right now. Not sure what it is but I think Dearden might have a higher ceiling.

1. Milford
6. SoS
7. Dearden
9. Turpin
14. Sege

That should be our spine next year.
Dearden to play the organising half role, with a decent long range kicking game.
SoS to play the running half and short game.
Milford to float from the back.
Turpin still has a kicking game and can attack up the middle.

Boyd to move into the centres and Macca to play ISC.

Behind our forwards, we will be a genuine attacking threat next year.

Which game are you referring to.. he had terrible games until his most recent where he got injured

I may it have all wrong then. I don't remember SOS playing for us previously. The game in which he injured his hammy, I thought that was his first game for us. Anyway, I liked what I saw and thought we had a real halfback for a change. Not a recycled player but someone born to the role. I especially loved seeing him in the huddle, apparently demanding people follow his instructions . Of course he could have been saying, WBs a **** and he fucked the salary cap on purpose!

Nah. That was just the first game he stood out and looked decent. The others he made horrendous errors and wasade to look very small, silly and not of a top standard.

Credit to him for coming back from it and playing well in the game you saw - tough break with injury

So he's played for us before? Okay, I'll have to check it out. If he wasn't ready then he certainly was this time.
