NEWS Selection dilemma: Anthony Seibold facing crucial Broncos call

I'm going to catch flak for suggesting Isaako as a 5/8 but there it is. Big enough, nice pass (one recently I saw was as precise as is possible) and I have no doubt he could kick any of the shapes possible. Before telling me why it can't work I'd be countering with 'he'd have to offer more than DB in the same position'. I'd reckon he'd give it a real crack.

Sounds good in theory but he just reminds too much of josh Hoffman playing 5/8th. Yes he probably has all the physical attributes but question is, is he smart enough to make the plays?

I can put videos up of Lockyer, Lewis and Johns dropping balls. As a 5/8 he doesn't have to catch high balls. It's of no concern.

Except this is what we associate with Isaako this season and you know that.

It honestly doesn't have to be complicated:

1. Milford
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Boyd
5. Isaako
6. Turpin
7. O'Sullivan
8. Lodge
9. AM9
10. Haas
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. TPJ

14. Seggy
15. Ofahengaue
16. Fifita
17. Flegler

My reluctance with Dearden is around his fitness having already had a close call with re-injury last week. If there is a genuine belief that he's overcome the problem then I could be persuaded to run him and O'Sullivan in the Halves with Turpin replacing AM9 who would likely go back to the bench unless they were happy to retain Segeyaro.

This is a side we could at least be competitive with this season and giving Milf, Dearden, SOS and Turpin time to gel over an offseason it's a 17 we could definitely compete with going into Round 1 next season.

Anyone watching how we been going this season would out rightly say that we've issues with our half's. If we sort that out + adjust our mentality, attitude and work ethic, we should be a real deal. Until now, the half's pairing isn't acceptable and when we've 2 of them in SOS & Dearden coming back from injuries and performing in Q-cup, what's stopping Seibold? It's plain and simple that he has to pull the pug and bring in both of them into starting 13. They surely WILL NOT perform any worse than how we'been going at 6 & 7. That's the easiest decision he has to make and stamp his authority over the bureaucracy.

As for the board safe guarding Boyd & Maccas asses, please take a hard look at yourself in the mirror and do the absolute right thing in stopping that. Please don't interfere with a coaches game plan. If you want to make decisions and team compositions for him, why have you brought him up here? Leave the team selections to him and stay out of it.

#BringinSOS&Dearden.

I am kind of expecting SoS will come back into the halves over Dearden, considering he got through the weekends match, and also the fact that Dearden re-injured himself on his come back q cup match. I'd be surprised if they chuck him straight back into the 17. I would assume he will be named on an extended bench.
Ideally Boyd would move to the centers and take Shiba's spot..
Herbie is prob due for another crack though, so it will be interesting.
It would be pretty harsh on Turps to get pushed back onto the bench after the efforts he has put in since being in the starting squad + playing out of position.
Darius just needs to go, things would be 1000000000 easier if he could just step aside - but it aint gonna happen, unfortunately.
Oh, and Macca also..

Isn’t this why Siebs was bought in though? To make the hard decisions that he hasn’t really cemented so far? It is frustrating to see him seem to go down the right track at some points and then backpedal later.

If the fallout from all this results in an outcome whereby they bench Turpin then honestly I would expect no less than torches and pitchforks out the front of Red Hill this week.

I just wanna know how much truth there is to the rumour that the board rissoled the idea of dropping Boyd. If it has any truth to it, Seibold has his hands tied.
I'm not generally into conspiracy theories but the apparent willingness to drop and offload others contrasted against his seeming reluctance to drop Boyd in the face of such glaring and ever increasing evidence certainly does lend weight to the theory.

I would bring sos in over dearden let the young bloke get 100% healthy. Turps and SOS for the halves and push Darius out to centre for his last chance. It would become blatantly obvious if they put turps on the bench that management is interfering.

If there is genuinely no chance they're dropping Boyd before the end of the season then we should make peace with that and simply focus on the best outcome instead which I reckon is playing him at Centre where would probably cause the least harm to our chances.

He's capable of running a decent line, he still has a decent passing game and with competent guys around him he should be able to manage the defensive stuff without making too many mistakes.

We then get a chance to play two genuine Halves alongside Milford as a ball playing Fullback and who knows, that might just be enough to get us being regularly competitive again.

So the reward turpin gets for being one of our best players is back to the bench? Which also means segeyaro gets dropped as well. This is all to make way for Macca.

Maccas playing good at the moment and Turpin definitely isn't a halfback. He will be great off the bench. This makes more sense from a team perspective not an individual one.

Macca has been ok the last few weeks. Still not what we need long term but in the interim, I don't see the need for dropping him. Funny how he tends to improve when he has some viable competition though.

Same here. I'm not sure where it came from, was there any official source or even newspaper garbage about it or did it start as someone speculating?

He's not a better Dummy Half than Turpin and he's not as effective off the Bench as Segeyaro. The way I see it, his only hope of staying in the side rests in Turpin moving to 5/8 alongside Dearden or SOS.

Seibold has been saying the reason why he is putting Turps in the halves is so it helps him develop more game awareness when he goes back to Hooker, so there is some method to the madness, but he isn't effective there.

I do think he would work as a 6 with a Proper Half next to him dictating play, he has some good instinctive play in him if he doesn't have to focus on controlling the team around the park.

Yes Seibold does need to make some very hard calls but he is in a tight spot. The playing group might respect Boyd and Macca. If he shoves them both aside it could mean losing a lot of the other 27 players in the squad.
