PRE-GAME Round 22 - Broncos vs Panthers

Team Lists

Same as last week - our forwards will roll through theres but we will get into an attacking spot and no one will know what to do.

Last weeks defense + A week focused on attack + Home crowd + Penriths attack + Better handling conditions

All good reasons to feel confident. We've got it in to us to win this game by 20+ while at the same time not a small chance losing either.

Just on Gillett. How about we just leave him out for twelve weeks and hook into some of that “injured in rep footy” cap relief? Not sure how it works if it spans over two seasons though?

It was only a pre-season tournament game but it did not feel like one.

It was a fiery encounter with the forwards not holding back. Gilly and Geyer got stuck into each other and then Gee and Cartwright got stuck into each other.

The Panthers were the better side in the first half. As a result of good field position, good possession and the Broncos starting a little off the pace they raced out to a 16-2 lead and it looked like the Panthers would run away with it. They wanted to win that final to get a trophy in the cabinet after losing the 1990 GF the year prior, but as the Broncos showed the week prior, they aren't a side that will go down easily. A try right before half time and a penalty goal gave them a bit of a boost going into the second half and they hit the ground running scoring a try just minutes into the second stanza after a Panthers mistake and suddenly it was the Broncos on the front foot.

They started to gain some good field position and get more possession and Allan Langer showed his class, he was near unstoppable in that second half and was really troubling the Panthers defence but they held strong. It wasn't until the final 6 minutes the Broncos scored again after Renouf beat a couple of tackles and put Chris Johns into space. He raced down the field with Kevin Walters in support and he tried to boot the ball in field but it deflected off a Panthers player and Walters scooped up the ball and scored in the corner and put the Broncos out to a 18-16 lead. Terry Matterson converted to make it 20-16.

Broncos ended up holding on to win the game. It was Walters that scored the winning try but it was Willie Carne that ended up winning the game for the Broncos with a try saving tackle on Graeme Bradley in the final minutes.

He wasn't injured as a result of playing in a rep footy game so we wouldn't get anything.

We are still no hope but you still have to make an attempt at it. Stranger things have happened in the sport. The Broncos made the playoffs in 2007 and 2014 when they had no business to. Why do you feel the need to call people names? Is it your low self esteem?
So why not put a proper half in , has to be better than what we have . Turpin just isn't a half.
No self esteem issues, just people piss me off. Sorry if I offended you.

Because you have to slow it down more to see it. More than what the bunker did. They have the ability to do so, but just refuse to do so.

Still cant see it conclusively and i tried to go frame by frame.

It would be an absolute joke ( if its not already ) if they had to go to a super slow motion, super zoomed in camera shot just to decided tries, and imagine the time it would take. I dont often agree with Joey, but he is right when he says the game isnt played in slow motion.

There is actually.

Slow it down enough and you can see the ball touching the arm clearly. Just have to watch the skin around the ball and see it being pushed in which means the ball touched.
And you know it has hit the hand when NRL themselves edit the highlight the frame before it happens

Sounds juicy - what are you alluding to here?
If Morkel could still print banners I would have already asked for a Jake Turpin to scale.

I've just gone back and looked at it, and i just cant see it 100% so seeing as it was sent up as a try they had to give it. The view from behind doesnt look like he touched it, the one from the side its very hard to tell but the one thats sort of from behind to the side looks very suspicious.I'll ask him if it did, i'm sure he would be honest about it 😀

I still reckon they hit Shiba around the neck. It was a high shot imo.
Oh God don't publish his answer for everyone to see on BHQ. No matter what it is imagine the feeding frenzy. Chuck us a pm lol

For us to win by 20+, we must first score 20 points or more which is hard enough as it is with no proper halves and no creativity out of 9.

All I can make from the team named today is confirmation something must be going on behind the scenes.
1 run for 1m in 80m of football has been pretty consistent for Darius whilst in the 6.
I’m thinking that decision makers above seibs are influencing who plays where in this team, I’m pretty confident that if this was 100% a seibs picked team, Darius and Macca would have been dropped for a week or 2 to q cup. There is also no way that shiba should still be in this team.

@Smokin' Joe liked this post. Behind the scenes tampering confirmed or is Joe just fucking with us? What if Joe turned out to be the biggest troll on this forum? Would lose all faith in humanity.

On the game, I just can't see a win. Maloney is going to have a field day I think. Hopefully this is the game that Shiba clicks in attack. Moga had feet for hands as well (from memory) but at least he had a few great attacking games.

The broncos are actually favourites for this game.. money to be made this week lads

I'm with you wolfie, it was high and knocked forward. Absolute bullshit try.

Giphy 5

We are going to get completely fucked. Does Seibold watch the games? Shibasaki and Boyd picked again? BIG FUCKING YIKES.

Panthers by 20.

Remember that time Boyd retired from rep footy? After he was told he wasn't picked... Maybe if we don't pick him in NRL he will retire from that too...
