NEWS Corey Oates: we felt relief once Bennett was gone

Love that he used the word SCRUTINY first about what he loves about the club. This is a guy who isn’t looking to hide. He wants to perform each week and if he doesn’t then he expects to cop shit. Class act.

I see parts of Locky in him the way he talks. True Queenslander mentality where we’re open and honest always.

I hope he have an absolute blinder of a game on Friday and rest of the season.

I don't believe for a second that much of the article are Oate's words. The headline is quite misleading too. 'We felt relief when WB was gone' isn't an accurate reflection I believe either. It implies that WB was an issue when I think the relief came from the situation being resolved, the uncertainty removed. The whole article seems, at least to me to be a journalist paraphrasing Oates. Ofcourse, I could be wrong.

If you listen to Oates talk in interviews, it sounds nothing like that haha.

I think you might be on to something here, mate...

Are you suggesting that a journalist would regress to low form tactics such as using "click bait" headlines? Nope, i dont believe that for a second.😋

Seems a bit rich. Next you'll be telling us Santa isn't real.

I agree. Oates would have had to ‘sign-off’ on what was said anyway.
All a byline means is you've agreed to put your name to it. Like Trump did with "Art of the Deal."

I would believe that a fat elderly man breaks and enters into my home, eats my biscuits and leaves gift wrapped socks in my house the same time each year, before i believed most of what is written by rugby league journalists.

Sure, but allowing somebody else to speak for you without signing off at the end is suicidal. Broncos wouldn’t allow it anyway.
He may not have written a word of it but he would've approved it, yes. It might've been done in an interview over the phone or in an all male bathhouse. Or maybe he really did write it, and then the subs cleaned it up.

The various headlines - which differ depending on where they appear - would've been pulled from the text by a sub. They can have a bit of fun there. They're just trying to get you to read it.

When you see quotes around text that will be literally what they said - word for word - but there is still leeway for selective editing and ommission to skew the message. That's routine in political reporting. They don't need approval for that, but the publication could expose itself to legal action if they are caught misquoting. That's why you see quotes containing grammatical errors.

the guy just needs quality service out to the left edge and you'll see what he really means to us...

The other parts of his game are what they are....im happy with him in those areas....but i said it before...look at how JPD does his best to ruin any chance of getting Oates over the line against Panthers when Isaako went on that 60 meter kick return run....

We should be paying Oates commiseration bonus every game he plays outside Shiba...

From what I can see, Fifita is taking most of the ball and running with it, rather than it finding the winger. The forward pack-centric style we are playing doesn’t lend itself well to backline movements, especially without TPJ creating second phase footy with his offloads.

...doesn't hurt Melbourne too much....look at the trys Addo-Carr and Vunivalu have compered to their inside centres and edge forwards....

They have simply found a way to make that work....if we want to keep Fifita, and this is how he plays, then we too simply have to accommodate all that and make it work...

You simply use Fifita as a decoy, but I think it's more about Milford being the reason our attack is favouring the right side.

Oates would do better going and training on how to be a winger than bullshit media interviews.

well then that comes down to time on the training paddock to fix that....well within our grasp then so however it plays out its in our hands..!
