NEWS Seibold gets last piece of the puzzle

Can't keep them both in the lineup unless Seggy is dropped which could possibly happen but unlikely. But if you have to choose the between the two, Turps is the obvious choice as he is a vastly better player than SOS. I'm still not convinced that the latter is even first grade standard or ever will be.

Turpin may be a marginally better footy player but he’s so far away from SoS’ half back play it’s not funny. SoS is the best 7 prospect we have.

SOS defensive reads were quite good on the weekend, much better than turpin's. SOS only got caught out the once (for sivo's try- and that was a really well run play).
Turpin regularly runs in placing pressure on staggs and isaako to follow.

How about Boyd back to 1, Milf to 6, SoS 7 and Turps to start the game at 9. Now that will take us somewhere based on current form. Send turps out wound up to 120% for the first 30 and last 30 to keep the dogs on back foot. Give Macca 10-15 each side of half time to help stiffen up defense.
Put Boyd back at 1 and we may as well book our mad Monday plans now

Clearly Dearden is, what you just said hurts my brain.

On current form not so sure..We are a lacking so much ball playing up front that SoS can at least half steer the team around. With SoS and Milf working either side of the ruck feeding ball to and from the big guys, we really actually have a chance of shaking some teams up. We have no problem getting offloads, support and or hunters is what we are missing.

If he's the best HB prospect that we have then you should expect many more years of playing around .500. He's slow, kicking game is average and his defensive reads can be below par at times. Dearden is the best prospect and he will display that next year.

I'm sorry, but I think continuing to not select a genuine Halfback when you have one available really beggars belief, and if we do lose this game and/or get bungled out of the finals in Week 1 because of a lack of direction from our Halves, Seibold will really only have himself to blame and honestly nowhere to hide. I'm trying to trust him and give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's just painting himself into a hell of a corner now that only an ageing and ailing Darius Boyd can have any hope to drag him out of.

If we absolutely must be asked to accept Boyd as a makeshift 5/8, then the least you can do is provide him with a genuine Halfback to play alongside. To choose to use a makeshift 5/8 and a makeshift Halfback when there are viable alternatives available really doesn't make sense.

Just to be clear, I'm not bagging Turpin, far from it, he should be straight back into the #9 jersey where he belongs and where he's done his best work, leaving O'Sullivan at Halfback where he belongs.

The continued selection at this time of year of makeshift options in our two playmaking positions so that Boyd and MCCullough can continue to be on the team sheet will almost certainly be the final nail in the coffin of a pretty shabby season all round.

Before we all get the pitchforks out for Seibold (even though I do agree its a seemingly bone headed decision) its worth noting that this is almost certainly what Wayne Bennett would have done in the same situation.

Wayne absolutely loved playing guys out of position in our spine and persisting with it. You only have to think back to the Moose and Thaiday at Dummy Half experiments recently, and then further back to other notable classics like David Stagg at 5/8 and then further back there was Tonie Carroll at Halfback to name just a few.

I guess I just place a higher importance on setting up tries than you do.
And Less importance on having an actual Halfback in this team that can kick the ball properly without relying on a Fullback.

We haven't seen the best of Dearden, not even close.

We haven't seen a good kicking game from Dearden in first grade either. If you're one of the few who watch the lower grades and you're comparing their kicking games at that level, then fair enough. But if you're solely measuring performance in first grade, Dearden hasn't really shown much.

Can I ask what were you expecting from him? He looks pretty good to me considering his age and small opportunity he has had so far. Sos is 22 I believe. Far more upside to Dearden.
