RUMOUR Did Brodie Croft just become a Bronco over brunch at a Sydney cafe?

Creepy photo. Wouldn't surptise me if this guy hangs out under board walks taking upskirt snaps.

The bloke hasn't even played 50 NRL games yet and has spent the last few years transitioning from a winger into a halfback. Not an easy task i'd imagine. He might just kick on with us. He is young so worth a punt over the other options.

Maybe Seibs will continue with the Milf at fullback experiment with Croft playing 6 and Dearden 7 🤔

This would be an absolutely disaster.

We should not sign Brodie Croft. He is just another young unproven halves player and from what I've seen, Nikorima is better than him.

We need experience in the halves.

How is Niko better than Croft? Niko is, barring fill ins who aren't full time halves like Turpin, the worst halfback in the comp imo. Croft has played a GF and has looked good anytime Daddy Smith hasn't been trying to run the show/ when Munster has been out. The storm are in for a wakeup call when Smith retires and they still have three full backs in their spine.

EDIT: If Dearden is ready I hope this doesn't stymie his introduction into the NRL. Milf will still be at FB I think judging by our cap position and squad, but they could easily run with Isaako at FB and Croft/ Milf as the halves (which will hopefully help take pressure off Milf and bring back his running game, but this can still happen if he's FB).

Not entirely sure if Niko is better than Croft, may of said that in frustration lol but to me, they are similar type players. They like to run the ball, they seem to have the same kind of kicking game etc. Croft is very error prone and if he can't thrive in the Storm system, do you really think he's the guy to lead us? He's what, 22 years old. He's played a GF sure, but how did that turn out? They got smashed with Croft at 7 and he did nothing.

I just feel we need more experience in the 7, that's why I'm really on board the Chad Townsend train. Are we even in discussions with him? Have we put the feelers out?

I think Croft is just ignored in the storm structure. Smith organises everything and they try to include Munster as much as possible. It could be like a JT situation where Croft becomes a different player when given responsibility in a new team. He's also going to have the forward pack to succeed here.

Considering Milford has been told to lose weight that means they are viewing him as a fullback. And SOS hasn't exactly filled Siebold with confidence considering he was dropped immediately for a Boyd/Turpin halves combo.

1. Milford
6. Croft
7. Dearden

That's a good combo to start with and atleast its a signing that actually fills a void that we need. A half that has a kicking game and can guide the team around and at 22, Croft has plenty of years in front of him.

That's potentially a pretty potent spine. Key word is potentially.

Well yeah, he was 21. How many other Broncs have GF experience?

SOS is more or less out of our calculations for next season due to injury. Huge recovery road ahead of him from what I can gather.

1. Agreed Croft isnt the experienced half we need/want, but realistically the only real option is we need to groom one ourselves. Devils advocate here but.....what if Sezers the experienced half we get AS WELL as Croft. Croft is basically out of the Storm squad now, Sezer most certainly isn't so no hope of seeing Siebs with him as he prepares for a GF preliminary final...

2. Is Bird moving on the one domino to fall before we can tie Fifita down long term..?

I think it’ll be
1. Milford
6. Croft
7. Dearden
9. Turpin

I’m thinking Seibold will give Milford the offseason, tell him to trim down, get his speed back and sink or swim in the 1 jersey.

I think this spine might be fairly likely. It's not premiership level yet but it's a whole lot better than Boyd, Milf, Niko and Macca.

Ok, so the million dollar question (God, hopefully not literally for our sakes):

Assuming we are signing or have signed Brodie Croft, what would people expect us to have paid for him and for what length of time???

He's been the Halfback of the side who won the Minor Premiership, although he's badly fallen out of favour. He's a Brisbane lad and it would appear we haven't had to get into a bidding war for his services, but he's also a Halfback with some reasonable runs on the board so he won't be coming to us for nothing.

I'm thinking a number around the 350-400k mark might be decent value and about what he would probably command on the market?

Milford trimming down might help his running game, but it won't make him a good Fullback. You need a special kind of work ethic to be a good Fullback, I can't see Milford suddenly being willing & able to take 8-9 more runs per game than he was doing during his Fullback stint this season.
