I always liked Kahu as a player and always admired the effort and determination to return from his injuries etc in the past.

But lately, since he left in 2019, and even now with his return, he appears incredibly toxic to the team.

Yes it's a business, but the Broncos looked after him with all of his injuries, and then also seemingly had his best interest at heart by letting him go to the Cowboys when he wasn't in their plans for a regular spot in 2019. Now, when 2019 didn't work out for him and no one wanted him, they have taken him back and will pay his salary.

Seeing him post things like this, and just the way he has handled himself in the past year has really out me off him to be honest. I was sort of bummed when he was released to the Cowboys because I thought at least he was a guy who you knew would try his guts out. But now, I sort of don't want him anywhere near the team.

He has a club basically paying him to rehab his shoulder and he Has this attitude?

I dont think he has ever been paid below his worth to stay at the broncos and he was always expressing how he was interested to go back to union.

What a dickhead.

My thoughts exactly. He is acting like a spoilt brat to be honest. He was a top 5 favourite for me previously, because he always seemed to have a good attitude. Truth comes out.

Put yourself in his shoes and see how loyal you feel towards a club who traded a single team veteran like a slave and whose fans groaned when they heard he was returning. We did the same with McGuire and we're trying to do the same with Macca.

He has a point.

Yes he has a point, but at least they were honest with him. They gave him the opportunity to try and get a better deal at the cowboys instead of languishing in Qcup. Then when it didn't work out, he's come back and we are paying his salary. The gain was always there for him.

Exactly. It was a business decision on everyone's part. The Broncos had a contractual obligation to him.

Yeah, but I just think the way he is behaving is a bit shit. I wasn't opposed to him being back because I liked him. But now he's carrying on like a knob.

I’d be laughing my tits off if I was Kahu. We just kicked him to the curb, showed no mercy. Why should he be acting any different?
How did we kick him to the curb? At the start of the season we had Roberts, Staggs and Bird all above him in the centre spot, and Isaako and Oates above him for the wing spot.

We told him he likely wouldn't be in the starting team so he wanted to see other options. He took up a deal at the cowboys to play his preferred position of fullback on a 1 year deal, where if he got a better deal for 2020 he could take it, and if he didn't, he could come back. And because it didn't work out for him, he's come back.

He has an opportunity to be in a starting team there which is better for him to secure a deal but he still wasn't able to.

If the broncos are such mean assholes why come back... Wait a second! That's right, we are paying him a lot more than any other club would offer him...
So he should stfu and stop having a little bitch about loyalty. If a company was paying me nearly triple my market value I wouldn't be going online like a little child taking digs at them.
Out of all the players we owe him less than anyone. We rehabed him for 4 or 5 bloody years ffs and we have paid him overs with a sweet safety net deal last year. What do we owe him?! Hope this makes it so he doesn't get a game next year and will take off $100,000 in his next contract.

Fucking loyalty, hope I get workers comp with a full recovery thanks to my employers for 5 years and my job continues to pay me then gives me a pay rise at the end with a secondment thrown in!

You want to be paid as a professional, you act as a professional. If i slagged off my employer i would get the can. I know he doesnt directly say the broncos but we get the innuendo.

As pudding said, he was informed he wasnt in future plans and given the option to continue his first grade career elsewhere or play Q Cup. He elected the former.

IS the club supposed to keep him in first grade because he played several years for us? That attitude has worked so well with boyd and macca hasnt it?

Upon reflection, if Jordan is to be pissed off with any club right now, it would be the Cowboys for giving him the flick, probably after whispering sweet nothings in his ear a year ago. But we aren't privy to the negotiation process of handing him back. I wouldn't expect the Broncos to have welcomed him back with open arms: they probably pushed back against the deal and then caved when it was established they had a contractual obligation.

The Broncos didn't need Jordan, and they certainly didn't need the inflated salary of an injured player - who was only ever on the fringe of selection - eating into their precious cap. Especially not when they were scraping cash for Croft.

Jordan wouldn't be feeling a great deal of love right now. Not from the Broncos. Not from the Cowboys. And not from the fans. Cut the poor bastard some slack.

I was fine with having him back until the post and seeing what he said when he left. Now I don't want him anywhere near the team.

Take the sentiment out of it.

The Broncos are an employer. Kahu is an employee.

He's making the most of what he can. Every single person on here would do the same thing Kahu has if they were in his shoes.

We get caught up in the sentiment because we're fans, but for many of the players, playing footy is just a job - a means to earn a living. He's spot on too, footy is a business these days, unfortunately. Everything revolves around money. Everything.

100%

I never said he wasn't, still a bit shit when he's come to the club to just screw them out of $400k. Isn't exactly a good way to behave.
He's doing what's best for himself and his family. What do you expect him to do? Roll over and quietly die?
Footballers are people too and that 400,000 might be the last he sees as a professional athlete.
Maybe it would be nicer for the supporters to pretend player disloyalty is a one way streak, but it isn't.
If the clubs could get away with it they would toss any player/official that was no longer optimum for their success away (and they did).
Things have changed. Clubs now have responsibility to at least try and honour their commitments, however awkward.
It doesnt mean it is all in the players favour. Shibasaki is now a Newcastle knight. He will have to move himself and his family and work with a whole new set of employers.
As Kahu said, it's a business, but the players are still people.
If you want him to go like gillet?. Why should he? Unlike gillet he has very little set up, having moved a couple of thousand miles and is in a position where a guaranteed income for a year will see himself established once more.
Of course the club could offer to pay him off, but they seem happy enough to have him there.
If you notice there is a lot of dissatisfaction when older players realise they are little more than meat to the grinder of professional sport.
When they are young they are elevated from their more humble beginnings and given a cult status among fans only to find the "love" was very shallow. If they put their bodies on the line and it fails, only the honour of the coach and club officials stand in the way of a return to humdrudgery of every day life, and fending for themselves.
A player like Kahu will have had time to prepare himself somewhat (unlike Palasia), but it's still a shock. They are human beings after all, not robots.
Remember Thaiday? Read the articles and comments from 2015 until his retirement. He went from being one of the all time great broncos to someone that struggled to compete with players who would never achieve anywhere near what he did (Mago, saviello etc.)
There was a time when Kahn was thought of in the same way as staggs. He actually possibly had more potential. He had a strong work ethic, did all the right things and looked to be karmichaels successor at fullback. Injury and time put paid to that. It did the same to gillet.
One day it will do so to Haas and fifita. If they seem a little melancholy because their horizons shrank with the passage of time I'll forgive them too. But perhaps looking and learning from Kahu will give them the inspiration to make every moment of their brief careers their best. If the likes of Milford and Oates could pick up on that idea too, perhaps they will find the way back to the players they were.
