Burns not confident enough to be selfish and use a review.
Labsuchagne another great knock. Just love his areas and where he is scoring now.
Head I was impressed with, kept the strike and took pressure off Labusuchagne- Head is a great team man.

NZ I thought were on top in certain parts but just couldn't get two wickets in a clump when they needed them.

Pressure already back on Burns imo, he's looked very shaky the last two innings. Probably not at risk of being dropped as long as we keep winning, but he does need some consistency in his runs.

Hard to blame him for not using the review. It certainly looked like it was out on first look and I was pretty surprised to see the replays show otherwise.

I think it's probably harder as an Opener to use a review too, given you have 9 other wickets to come after you that will be left to just one more review if you blow yours. I think that internal pressure to not use it only gets more intense when you're the relative newcomer to the side and could probably be forgiven for not wanting to waste a review that one of your gun top order team mates might need.

It's poised pretty interestingly, the game. Pretty boring stuff though - at first I thought Australia were just going to bat NZ to death. Must be one of the lowest scoring rates for Australia's top order for a while. Warner and Smith just gave it away with uncharacteristic bored now shots. Admittedly Warner's was a freakish catch.

Lasagna was awesome, he's cementing his spot for the next few years. He is a pleasure to watch bat - knocking it for a six to bring up your ton? That's like Mark Waugh type stuff, just good watching.

Day two should be interesting, can't wait to see NZ bat. Or rather Australia bowl.

Speaking of which, Mark Waugh was commentating when Labs got it and he literally called that very shot seconds before he hit it. Great stuff.

I still don't think that ball was missing leg, even made a comment about it on cricinfo.

Yep, really tend to agree. If you were given out to that and saw the replay at full speed you’d have absolutely no argument with the umpire’s calll.

Far out they know how to blow a runout opportunity

How is Siddle even being considered for a recall?

Pattinson and Neser in the squad and might get overlooked.

Bloody Langer and his favourites

Good effort from the bowlers to get off the field quickly both times given they were down a man and Cummins only took 3 wickets for the match. Scary thing is he’s the world #1 but never seems to have much luck. He’s probably due to take 15 or so in a match.

Starc MoM with 9 wickets, Lasagna with a 140, 54 and a wicket

Yeah in a bowler's game, Lalabamba should have got MOTM, he was a class above everyone else out there. Starc did bowl very well though.

And goodness me, this female James Brayshaw/Mark Nicholas is insufferable. If I hear Takeeeeeeeeeeennnaah one more time, I am going to lose it.

I'm torn on this one. I think MOTM should go to the person who has the biggest say in the result and for me that was probably Labuschagne. His century I felt just took the game away before New Zealand even got to reply. Starc did bowl really well though so I can live with him getting it.
