Welp, he will be sitting some games out, one would imagine.

You’d think after the casino stuff and driving unlicensed he’d be sick of dealing with the coppers.

add in that his partner has gotten through her cancer treatment, they’re expecting a child and are engaged, you’d think he’d be a bit more grown up about life in general.

It is not hard.

Especially when you're at best a slightly above average player. He isn't exactly in a position to be a recidivist fuckwit.

Could be more reality to this than it seems? any official police statements or such...he could have been sleeping in the back seat!

Sleeping in his car after a night on the turps. Thought he was doing the right thing. Fine him and move on.

The old trick was to hide your keys and say you lost them. You're not in control of a car with no keys.

Maybe he'll get a fine or whatever, but it sounds like he's made a sensible decision here.

A lot of footy players wouldn't be too well-versed on the intricacies of the law when it comes to sleeping in your car after a night out.

I was thinking what an idiot when I heard...

But ffs I'd be giving my son a handshake and telling him well done if he slept in the car. Ofa actively avoided driving the car, he made the conscious decision to do the safe thing by himself and the community.
I didn't even realise it was against the law.

Either way, puts him on the back foot for the lock spot. No way he gets it now. He had to get first shot and completely dominate it to hold out any competition.

He made the right decision by not driving, but most people know that you still can't have your keys on you if you sleep in the car.

If this is his third strike, I wouldn't be opposed to letting him go, purely on the basis that I think he is overpaid.

No way, he tried to do the right thing and he should be stood by. The Broncs are not the Roosters who look for any excuse to get rid of someone.

It's one of those dumb laws only a complete fuckwit would enforce.

Reminds me of when my girlfriend got locked up for assaulting a police officer accross from King George Square in the 80's. We were sitting on the steps minding our own business when a cop called her down to ask questions. So he could check her out, more like it. Next thing, he grabbed her arm, again for no reason, and she pulled it away instinctively. That was the assault. They threw her in the back of the Black Maria and she spent the night in the tank.

*****.

That's just stupid. How do you get into the car without the keys?

And here's another law you mightn't know about: you can't leave the engine running and get out of the vehicle, say to scrape ice off the windscreen, check an engine noise or see if your blinkers are working. It's also against the law to leave your car unlocked or with the windows ajar.

If you can’t sleep it off in your car then what are you supposed to do? Sleep out in the open or better still on the road and get hit like has happened to drunk people before and they’ve died. Stupid law and asshole of a cop picking him up for it.

When I was a young bloke, it used to be the law that you could sleep in your car when you were as full as a primary school bag rack, you just couldn’t be in the drivers seat. So, we’d lie on the back seat - all good.
