OFFICIAL Broncos release Andrew McCullough

**** I would love Teo back at the club. Imagine that, Macca leaves to allow us to sign Ben Teo cementing his spot as the ultimate team man.

I don’t know if we’ve had a game in the last season or this where all our forwards were available at once. Teo and Glenn will make an amazing pack leadership duo. How scary would it be playing against a team with Haas, Fifita, TPJ, and Teo in it. If I were an opposition forward I’d be looking into Tafe courses.

I just doubt that Te'o wouldn't be in the 17, unless his performance was worthy of being dropped.

Who on earth could you possibly drop from that side I named? They're all far better players than what you'd expect a 33 year old Te'o to be. And Paix is non-negotiable, we're 100% playing a utility on the bench, Seibold has already said that.

Te'o would be decent depth, at the moment if we lose one of our elite forwards we're suddenly playing Rhys Kennedy, that's not going to cut it in the finals.

Full strength -

8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Fifita
13. Carrigan

14. Paix
15. Pangai Jr
16. Ofahengaue
17. Flegler

Te'o would be very useful over the next 3-4 weeks with the Fifita injury and TPJ suspension, but after that point, I doubt he'll even be in our 17. Good veteran presence around training I suppose. Maybe he can get TPJ to pull his head out of his ass.
With that forward pack odds on is that someone will be suspended atleast for every game

I think you need to remember this isn’t Ben Teo from 2014 playing for us
It’s Ben Teo 33 year old well and truely at the backend of his career
He starts at the back of the pack to begin with and needs to earn a start

Pretty much this.

Show me a Broncos team list in the last 3 years that has had 100% of their best forward pack and bench available and I’ll show you a game where Tommy Turbo has gotten through an 80 minute game without limping or grimacing

mixed reports its multi year deal v multi year with return option? Doesn't make sense as his contract didn't have more than 2 years left?

He is only officially signed for 2020 at Newcastle. That's straight off the NRL contracts list which clubs have to publish.

So yes, it could be another Kahu situation in which case, it's dumb we're letting him go. It's better to have Macca as injury cover than nothing at all but whatever. I'm just glad to even have a year where he has no chance to be starting 9. Hopefully he does well there and gets an extension so we never see him line up for the Broncos again.

When someone posted this in one of my group chats I thought it was a joke.

Why now? also we better not be contractually obligated to re-sign him on his full salary in the future.

A bench of Teo, TPJ, Flegler & Ofahengaue looks absolutely unreal. But it’s risky and the starters are all capable of big minutes anyway, plus I want to see Farnworth/Paix/Dearden get game time.

The Brisbane Broncos today confirm they have released Andrew McCullough from his 2020 contract effective immediately.

McCullough has been a part of the Broncos’ system since he was 13 years of age, playing in the National Youth Competition under-20s team, before making his NRL debut in Round 10 of 2008 against Cronulla.

McCullough has played 260 NRL matches for the Broncos, and represented Queensland in three State of Origin matches in 2018.

Chief executive Paul White thanked McCulllough for his tireless service to the Broncos.

“We wish Andrew and Carlie all the best in what will be a new and exciting opportunity for them,” said White.

“He has been a favourite son of the Broncos for a long period of time and has always been so well respected by his fellow players and staff.

“It is a sad day for the Broncos to see him depart Brisbane, but he will always be welcome back here at the club.”

3 years too late..... but I wish him well and good luck at the knights.

So the only way he doesn’t come back is if he kills it down at the knights and they offer him a new contract?

If that’s the case then... go Macca! Rip in, buy a 5 bedroom house and adopt those Newcastle rookies !

Wondering whether seibold may use hopoate as a 20 min stop gap hooker, especially if we do bring in teo. he's got the body shape and the energy of a good dummy half, does anyone know if he's played a few minutes or game there before? It'd help easing teo in as well while tpj and fifita are out, and allow less pressure on the Turpin-paix combo to work

It's gotta be a great sign of things to come for the rest of the season if the majority of us on here don't even know what Siebs is planning, it means our opposition are even less in the picture.

Good luck Macca. I'll miss your occasional 40/20, but so glad you decided to move on. Must be in the running for best ever clubman just behind Plathy.
