NEWS Brisbane chairman Karl Morris: Shitbold survives

To summarise it
Morris said they basically want Murdoch to sack him so they can’t be blamed for the payout to the shareholders for giving him such a long contract
it seems a lack of leadership goes right through the club, from the players to the coach to the boardroom.

Speaking of Su'A, I thought he was Souths best player on Thursday night. He looks to have taken the leap to the next level. He was one player I really wish we did keep, prior to that ankle injury he was looking so good. We just had to be patient with him in his rehabilitation, unfortunately, Souths are now reaping those rewards.

It was definitely one of his better performances, but he still struggles for consistensy and just doesn't seem to run effective lines.

I wouldn't have traded him for Rhys Kennedy.

Yeah looks like a cleanout from top to bottom to really turn things around. A lack of leadership and ownership at all levels with token changes here and there won't change things.

Tough situation. I am estimating Seibold is somewhere around average as a coach, put in place with a long term contract by decision makers in a badly bungled rush to ship off Wayne. This seems to explain the results reasonably well over the past two years and also is in line with Pies longer term results as a coach where he really hasn't achieved much at all with a win loss rate below 50%. I also believe he can't be nearly as bad as he is looking at the moment! A likely explanation might be the blow torch of pressure applied on the coach is making his decision making worse, not better. This scenario if correct is not easy to fix as those responsible for creating the problems would be the ones asked to fix it, and in the process serve themselves a generous helping of humble pie, hard to see that happening.

For all of the rush to blame Seibold this is covering up a disgraceful effort by the senior players in the squad, no excuse for what they have been dishing up even if they don't like the coach. By a process of elimination and looking at all of the players who have played in the floggings going back to the loss to Parra last game of last season.. time to bench these players or rest them and come what may with their replacements, it might only be 1 or 2 of them... but their attitude is more infectious than Covid19 I estimate.

His contract is performance based, the whole 5 he thing is bullshit. Maybe that's why we're bombing.

Boyd on fox - paraphrased not exactly quoted:

There's definitely some issues which we know we need to address but we have to keep them inside the walls of the club.

This is obviously true but some of these issues are becoming self evident and therefore don't stay inside the club which makes things worse.

Found that quite interesting also. He didn’t want to talk about it, I don’t mind that if they’re being honest with themselves inside the club, but he himself is a massive liability. Or, the players really don’t believe in the coach and if that’s the case he needs to be outed ASAP.

This may be over critical of boyd, but on one hand he fronts the media, yet after the game is smiling and laughing on the field? At this point, keeping problems in the sheds is fine - but its been evolving on field for weeks.

Also Boyd: this is not my problem anymore.

It’s what we have to go through to get to where we are going. I thoroughly believe this. I mean, what goes up, must come down. Let’s hope we bounce well.

I'm not so sure it should be this poor. There is a certain level we should expect win or lose, and we are pretty far from that level. There is just nothing, we arent even competitive. Seibold has absolutely destroyed this group imo.

Sounds like we need a Kevvie injection ..... stat !!

Anthony will not be sacked today. Unless I am instructed otherwise by the company (News Corp) which owns 69 per cent of the Broncos, under no circumstances do I plan on sacking Anthony. I wouldn’t say I’m extremely happy with Anthony, obviously, but I’m conscious of the enormous amount of pressure he is under.

“I am the chairman of a publicly-listed company and I have responsibilities to ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission) for that reason. I have shareholders to consider, but News Corp are 69 per cent owners of the Broncos and they are staying the course."
Looking back at this again, I'm thinking the above quote from Karl Morris is what should worry us as fans.

That wording from Morris that he won't sack Seibold unless News tell him to is a crazy statement... It's basically confirmation that the Broncos are a News plaything.

The transition from Bennett was a total balls up and appeared to be a hit job, but who ordered the hit. We've been saying that Morris and Paul White should go because of their involvement, but employees are usually answerable to someone.

Paul White answers to the board and Karl Morris answers to the shareholders, and based on his words it seems that News are his only real concern at this stage. Does it mean that News ordered the hit on Bennett??

We as fans should be trying to get rid of them as owners above anything else otherwise nothing changes.

We saw the hit on Bennett coming from a long way out, played out daily through speculation in the Courier Mail. It started two days ago on Seibold. If it snowballs, you can bet it's a deliberate tactic to force him to fall on his sword, and he will go.

There are at least four articles calling for, or insinuating, Seibold's sacking today. One includes a poll, which is currently 51% for sacking, 37% against, 12% undecided from 1001 voters.
