NEWS Brisbane chairman Karl Morris: Shitbold survives

Yeah Morris is a cunning linguist. Seibold would be shitting himself after reading that.
If Morris had his back he would say it and not distance himself at the same time.

We have your back but it's out of our hands isn't the endorsement Seibs would have been looking for.

Good. He isn’t the right coach for this side.

Who is though Sproj? Another unproven rookie? The good ones arent leaving to come here.
I dont subscribe to the 'it cant get any worse' theory. Thats all short term stuff IMO . Seems like underperforming senior players are agitating against him. If so, they have proven to be shit under 2 coaches now which means they have to be moved on - now. This seems like his only hope for survival. If they punt him, we'll still be left with false hope that milford will again recapture 2015 form and we'll still be stuck with Darius Boyds smug f$cking grin and his 'its just a game' mentality and a mix of kiwis (some that clearly dont give a shit) and others who didnt grow up aspiring to play for us.

Feel like I'm on my own but all in on Seibs for me...

Regardless of how this season goes I don't think a coach change would happen till the off season.

If you bring in a new coach, they will most likely want to change up the current staff/assistants etc, best to do all that in the off season and start fresh.

Yeah I tend to agree @Waynesaurus . We are not winning anything this year so give these guys time to fully **** themselves or dig in and show a bit of ticker. It's going to be painful but I know where the rum shop is and venting on here helps too.

The neighbours will just have to deal with it though

Fair points you've raised and I agree with a lot of your points about the players. I think the players need to be held accountable but the coach isn't dropping the way underperforming overpaid players and instead effectively drops the one guy who was trying his guts out in Isaako. Isaako isn't a fullback but he was the least of the backline problems. The most experienced guy is also in the backline and hasn't been even average very often since 2016.

Again, a lot of these regressions were happening before the coach got here but it is hard to argue they haven't sped up alarmingly since. What I want to know is what happened between rounds 2 and 3 off the field. This is the big question for me. It is hard to argue the coach hasn't lost the dressing room but the bigger question is why? They were playing really well in the first two rounds, Milf looked trim and focused for example. Since the break, none of them (save for Haas and Coates) look fit. They all look unfit, they all look disinterested and they all look like they couldn't care less. Why? What happened?

Why won't the coach drop/demote to the bench the guys who need to be made an example of in Boyd and Oates/Milford? Why is there no semblance of structure whatsoever? Why are the players doing such a poor pre-game routine? Attitude is on the players but team structure/cohesion is on the coach and has been poor, that can't be argued.

I suspect he is trying to be all new age and fancy but this side are way too dumb and way too lazy to handle it. A good coach should recognise this and adapt. He needs to bring back the basics like ball control, line speed and legs tackling. This is all this side can currently handle and yes, that is on the players.

If he can't adapt (which when you look at his bench usage, is clear he can't) then get someone in at least who won't take half-hearted performances or at least has shown they can nurture kids - hence my preference of a Toovey-Griffin tag team. Or even a Kevvie-Griffin team. Either way, I want Griffin back just not necessarily as head coach.

To summarise it
Morris said they basically want Murdoch to sack him so they can’t be blamed for the payout to the shareholders for giving him such a long contract
Beaut, that focus on avoiding a payout caused them to flub it last time.

Maybe I'm on my own here, but...I still think Siebold is a really good coach and was the right choice. We saw what he could do with an experienced team at Souths and he thought he could probably do the same thing with a young side and create a dynasty. I really think his style of coaching was working pre-COVID. I mean we weren't great, but it was a damn sight better than last season. The whole style of the game has changed since returning and the types of forwards we have aren't cut out for the new style of game given how they currently play.

I just hope he can strip it back a bit for these young players and simplify the game. He will always have the creative game plans and scenarios up his sleeve once he gets familiar with the playing group and they gain experience and confidence and learn his style of coaching.

Just needs to hit the training paddock this week and strip it right back. Forget the set plays. Forwards run hard, Luke take your opportunities. Milf and Dearden - play what you see and allow those naturally attacking players do what they do and come up together in defence. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Great post mate. 100% with you on the covid break and subsequent lack of fitness that we all saw in the Parra game.. thats a total lack of accountability and peer to peer leadership which in my view is a playing group issue, principally senior players who should have stepped up. Total opposite of the roosters who clearly knuckled down.
Could do worse than a hard edge tooves with Griffins proven ability to improve young players. Well put mate.

I agree , i feel like we saw a glimpse of it in the Manly game as well... i dont feel as defeatist as 95% of he posters on here. There are some promising signs, but we arent even starting at 0.... we are starting at -59

I'm not so sure it should be this poor. There is a certain level we should expect win or lose, and we are pretty far from that level. There is just nothing, we arent even competitive. Seibold has absolutely destroyed this group imo.
When Wolfie, the eternal optimist, is bereft of hope - you know there is something terribly wrong this coach.

Until he leaves the team with 12 players with over 10 minutes to go because he makes the ridiculous call to substitute a perfectly healthy fullback for another fullback at exactly the same time he does every week as his surprise tactic.

Yeah, nah, he's not a good coach. Or he's allowing very bad advisors to advise very bad things.

Obviously bench use is something he needs to work on. I was more referring to his game plans.

I take you back to Round 1 last year against Melbourne. I actually liked the way we looked, we were then a monster against Cowboys and things were looking pretty. However, we slid off the side of a hill with injuries and Boyd stinking things up. It's not like he's had the luxury of selecting his 17 best players each week, he also hasn't had much luck with injuries. Look, I'm not excusing what has happened and he needs to take a fair bit of blame for the way things have gone, I just think he is not being able to represent himself fully as a coach.

To choose to roll the dice on your final interchange of the game on the same stupid Fullback switch that has done absolutely nothing so far in the 4 games you've attempted it already, was ridiculous. The face it then left us short players on the field is simply inexcusable. It's below even a park football level **** up.

That one decision alone should have Broncos power brokers wondering if they've appointed someone who is in over their head.

So it seems that Lockyer has been tapped to lead a review/investigation? Nothing against Locky, loved him to bits as a player, but he doesn't fill me with confidence as an administrator. Surely at this point they need to get an independent set of eyes onto the situation. No one currently involved in the club, no one with a history with the club. Hell, could even be someone outside of league. But I think they need a proper independent review before they'll get anywhere...

Agree 100%. Afterall, Lockyer was one of the members of the board that got us into this spot.

Then again, we had someone like Karl Morris come in who had no real association with the club prior (and Paul White) and we're in the same boat.
