NRL 2020 Grand Final

Do we have many Qld players in the afl? Genuine question

Sidetracking here, the NRL has tried to do the same with the Titans. A pathetic club in a city that has the attention span of a toddler, the NRL tries to throw glitter on the turd to just try to get people interested for a fleeting moment.

The Hayne situation was so fucking dodgy, there was no reason for him to go there, yet all of a sudden they had millions free in the cap to sign him, overnight. It certainly looked to me like he always wanted to go back to the Eels, wanted to stay a one-club player (in the NRL anyway), but the NRL said he can only come back if he did some time at their struggling token club. The Titans made it clear they didn't want him, but the NRL knew that Gold Coasters only respond to new shiny shit.

And now they can sign all these big dollar players out of nowhere? If the NRL haven't played a part in that I'll be shocked, not that we'd ever find out.

Conspiracy theory: The NRL is actually the leak at the Broncos

There's around a dozen in the Lions squad, including captain Dayne Zorko.

And several in other clubs throughout the league too.

There are in fact a few all time greats who are also Queenslanders.

If Penrith had have won it would have gone down in the history books and proof positive that the system is working. All these rules were brought into stop Melbourne, guess what? They won the competition.

He turned his body into chase the ball which he's allowed to do. Was he playing for Kikau? Possibly, but he created enough plausible deniability for himself. It was an inconsistent ruling absolutely done up to give the game a grandstand finish.

Notice how deathly quiet Gus was after half-time until that To'o farce? Even when they were praising Melbourne there was an obvious us vs. them quality to it.

Then he couldn't shut up and was trying to turn Penrith into the uncrowned premiers. If they didn't deny Mansour a legitimate try in the first half.
On top of all that was the cynical use of the video ref.
Checking to see if a try was scored.
Gus and Freddy and JJohns all blow up about the overuse of the video ref but were ok with checking an obvious not even close to a try only to check the lead up and then **** it up beyond belief.
If the refs are going to use it like that then do it all the time.
If what Hughs did was a bin then we are going to have a lot more games with less than 13 on the field..
The NRL will be thanking their lucky stars that Melb held on because that decision would have been ridiculed for years to come.

Just on the Victorian rugby league discussion.
Here are the results of the Affiliated States Championship going back to the early 2000s.
I follow this closely, living in WA I follow the local league closely with mates who have played in the championship.
It shows WA's dominance while Vic have won it twice in the last 14 years.

Dodgy calls both halves. Melbourne got all the calls first half. What about the Melbourne "offload" that Penrith grabbed, only to be called off-side because a Panther supposedly touched it first. Zero replays of course. The contest is as genuine as Pamela Anderson's jumper monkeys.

We've gone through a rubbish 6 months here in Melbourne, good on the Storm but that was a horrible game at the end of a horrible season with a football code headed in a horrible direction.

Lots wrong with that game no doubt. Not least of all is the Panthers roll the ball without going near a foot.
They've been doing it all year and it contributes so much to their ruck speed.

They've been doing it all year and it continues so much to their ruck speed.

Was thinking the same with both teams. It's like the refs only have the capacity to remember 80% of the rules and change it each year with a crackdown. This year was obstructions, which they still can't get right, but that allowed the PTB to be a farce. Play it sideways, move the mark away from the markers, don't play it at all! Who cares!

I thought the rule was plant the ball, roll it with foot. You shouldn't be rolling it back at all with your hand, let alone tunnel balling.

Think the ptb this year was stepping over the ball with one foot could be wrong tho

Also (this bitching might be me just delaying doing the dishes), but when is someone going to question the Storm's HIA tactics. No wonder they seem fitter and tighter defensively than most other teams. 3 bogus HIA's equals 6 extra interchanges. They're getting 14 in a game that is supposed to allow 8. And they've been doing it for 2 years straight now.
