NEWS Tyson Gamble offered another year

I said it yesterday, but if Staggs plays 6 and Gamble gets a decent offer elsewhere, he's leaving. Bulldogs interested apparently.

I think he will struggle for game time there tbh, Averillo and Burton are the likely halves and he will have to battle Flannagan for the spot, he will have about the same chance of game time here if not more then the Dogs.

Storm he has basically no chance of starting without injurys.

If a team such as the Tigers or Manly offered though I think he would have a much stronger case to start.

Burton is a shoe in, but Gamble has a very good chance to compete with Averillo ( who also has played a fair bit at center for them. Flanagan is their Croft, he's on his way out. At his age, i dont see Tyson staying because Arey will be 7, Staggs looks like being 6. He's got far more chance of getting a spot at somewhere like the Dogs than at Brisbane.

Dogs have alot of Outside backs though and Averillo has been one of their best so I think he is pretty solid in 6. Where as you can't say Staggs has 6 locked in at all, he hasn't even played there yet. If Gamble keeps playing well I'm convinced he could displace Staggs from a halves birth in the pre season before 2022 even starts.

then again Staggs isn't back for over a Month and will likely play 6 this year to get a feeler it still wouldn't be an easy decision sure.

I just think he has a better chance at a half position at the dogs for example than Brisbane. Kevvie seems dead set on playing Kotoni at 6 so i do peronsally think he's locked in at 6.

I like Gamble as a player, but i still think we have Turpin syndrome with him right now in that we just wanted somebody different with more effort. He just does his job, and dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that, i just think as time goes by that wont be enough just like Turpin isnt getting by on effort and not being Macca so much anymore.

Truthfully, any Sydney club would have to make their offer very substantial to be competitive. Aside from ongoing high prices there's moving costs, family/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/relatives/covid complications and accommodation. After that there's friends who he might miss and then there's the actual living in a rat race . If he gets any sort of offer from the Broncos I reckon he'll grab it with both hands. He might even think one year is fabulous with a new club kicking off in 23.

He would know what its like moving down there though from his time at the Tigers. I think if he gets a half decent offer he will be gone and i think he would be mad not to. They will probably lose Lewis and Marshall-King so i think a club like the dogs would have a fair bit of upside for him. I think it would all depend really on his chances of playing first grade.

What if the dogs only offer him a 12 month deal at minimum wage??

I agree with @Mustafur and think Burton and Averillo will be their likely halves next year... and they have invested in Flannigan so he would be next cab off the rank after that (in the same way Croft was for us this year). If he went to the dogs he could very well end up being a safety net if all their options fail.

He's also uprooting his life to Sydney and NSW cup, instead of QRL ISC.

I'm not certain Staggs will work at 6, which I believe you have stated several times in other threads, so even if Staggs were to start the year at 6 I'm not sure there is a guarantee that he will stay there throughout the year. I also don't think Croft complements Reynolds so Gamble would be a legitimate option to come in and replace him.

He could very well leave, but I'm not certain the dogs is a certain starting spot for him so he would be taking on a fairly decent risk.

TBH I think Croft is the one that should start weighing up his options, unless he's happy hanging around ISC for the next 3yrs

I'm not so sure we won't see averilo in the centers tbh. Burton is the going to be their 6. It's just who gets the 7. I don't think he would be nailed on for a starting spot, but I think he would have a better chance there than here. Of course, it all depends on the contract as well. He's moved before so I doubt it would be an issue if he has a chance at first grade.

Have a feeling Flanagan is not going to make it there

I think Flanagan is no chance of making it there in the same way that Croft looks long odds of making it here now... but who takes on Flanagan's contract now (which is to the end of 2023 and likely to be at least $500k)??

If I'm Gamble I'd want to be having a chat with Kevvie about what he thinks his future is at the club. If Kevvie has a plan to utilise him in the 17 week in week out (utility or ball playing lock) or as the next cab off the rank in the halves (if Staggs shits the bed or Reynolds gets injured)... then maybe that works for Gamble.

Tyson has found his mojo and his groove at the Broncos. With a top of wages and an extra year contract I'm sure he'll be happy to hang around and push his cause. If he doesn't snare a further extension I'm sure the new Brissy team will be happy to pick him up as depth.

My thoughts exactly. Any decent chunk of change in Qld is worth 50% in Sydney. They'd have to offer him 350 pa and 2 years at a minimum I'd think. Even then it would only be moderately attractive.

As if players pay their own rent. He can still buy in QLD.

Say what you want but we definitely need someone like Gamble in the side he is good for mentality, do think Kev should look at him as a potential 13.

He’ll have to take that option to see him in Broncs’ colours because he will be unfairly suspended for the rest of this season. That was appalling what he was penalised for tonight.
