I'll check, but I don't think so - he's a plumber.

I also don't follow Gould on twitter, nor even have a Twitter account... Hence why it came out of nowhere (at least to some)
Congrats on not being surprised though!
It was reported earlier in the year that the Bulldogs had tried to entice Gould to join their club but Gus rebuked their offer and remained with the Warriors. However in light of the recent lockdowns and the headache that was his last trip to New Zealand he realised he couldn't commit to them 100% so he accepted the role at the Bulldogs.

I think it's a great signing. The Bulldogs are in a position where they can make changes and they need some guidance. If you listen to his podcast, Gus has been coaching them from the sidelines and believes they should limit their recruitment and focus more on their development pathways.

It will be interesting to see what that specifically means. From memory the talk was something like you sign one gun player and then you sign three quality prospects and try to build the squad for the long term. Essentially what he was saying was don't go out and sign the Dylan Napas, Will Hopoates, Dallin Watene-Zeleniaks, Nick Cotrics etc. but look to sign one good marquee player who can be a leader and then three good prospects who have potential but just need the experience.

You do that over the course of three seasons and you've got a gun roster and players are coming to you on reasonable contracts, not because you're the highest bidder.

Would you think Barrett might be sweating a bit? Gus punted Hook and he was doing far better than Barrett is.

Yeah but is there a coach with a gun son around anywh- hold on…

Why? Are you trying to tell me one means more than another?

No.

Benji and his family have been in the bubble. Benji was given permission to stay behind and travel with the families so he could spend more time with his newborn daughter.

It's a different story when it comes to Opacic, he wants to leave the bubble completely to attend a funeral in QLD despite the comp being moved up to QLD under the proviso that NO ONE leaves the bubble.

With Xavier savages performance last njight what is the GUARANTEED future immortal-like career count up to this year now with the rookies? Or does he not count bcos he's not one the Broncos "lost"? In saying this, I actually think he looks the most likely to have a great career out of the lot of them.

I wasn't talking about Benji. Aaron Woods got an exemption and left the bubble for the birth of his daughter. It's a disgusting way to treat a person. I know exactly the protocols that were being put in place for him and he would have had no contact with anyone yet Anastasia still dug her heels in.

I think it's absolute bullshit Anastasia can let a bloke break the bubble for the birth of his baby but couldn't let a bloke go to his Brothers funeral yesterday and can't even give his parents a hug. Disgusting.

That's the danger of the "surely if there are exceptional circumstances there should be allowances made". What is important enough to break protocol and what isn't? Also bullshit that star status or influence gets people a free ride.

I think there are always going to be individual cases differently, its just the way things are. At the end of the day, Covid isnt going anywhere and we have to just use common sense and live with it.

if you have time give this a quick read, shows the bloke's character, he doesnt need another nrl contract but the fact he's going to these lengths to do it just shows

Phil Gould is spot on here.

The fact that the RLIF are still going ahead with the World Cup in UK despite the current climate is fucking ludicrous.

Surprisingly I didn't mind the first episode of the Tigers doco, purely due to Maguire's passion.

There's something about a passionate, potentially psychotic at times coach addressing his team and riding the highs (whilst few) and lows of his team that make for a good watch.

Also, I was happily shocked that they aren't censoring him for the most part otherwise half the show would be bleeps.
It's a bit strange that they censor the same words at random moments and not for others, but eh.

I am not going to watch it, no interest whatsoever but this shouldn't shock you. Attention to detail and completing a job properly is not a prerequisite for getting work with anything NRL related.

So true.
It had me questioning my hearing at times because they don't even bleep it, they silence it for the word... But then two minutes later it's 12 ***** a second from him.

Australia and New Zealand have withdrawn from the 2021 World Cup.

They won’t be sending a team over.

apparently they've requested the world cup be played in 2022 instead.

without Australia and NZ, then the RLIF will have to comply

Didnt even know it was a world cup year

I say this with him in my SVRL team, but Sivo has got to be the softest 100kg+ winger in the game.

The amount of times he's stayed down for a penalty is ludicrous, and I'm glad they've made him come off for the HIA so hopefully he quits the act.
