I'm not one to believe the reporters in Australia but given he's asked for a release, his team has stated on numerous occasions he isn't getting paid what he deserves, there are MULTIPLE sources saying he wants that much, there is no denial that he wants a million despite him doing 7000 media interviews since the story broke, ikin also not denying the amount, and his managements track record and general stupidity I think it's as bloody concrete as you can get......

The thing for me is he has done SO MUCH media since the boos. So, so, so much more then he normally does, including origins in the past and this was his chance to back it up. If he spent half the time he did doing interviews on listening to some motivational speakers to psych up (joking) he'd be in a far better position now. Stop talking, start showing you're irreplaceable!

I don’t think that Patty is better than Payne just yet, but he’s definitely as good as, with more upside. That’s the reality that Payne needs to get used to, unless he goes and works on his aggression/ptb speed.

At what point does it become evident that Payne’s issues aren’t just poor advice but poor character? Wasn’t getting into his team mate on the advice of his manager? Was threatening a female police officer on the advice of his manager?

I did check and you're right it is Badel's "understood" figures.

maybe it was a negotiating tactic hoping that we'd split the difference, or meant to outrage us so we'd release him.

I fully believe they would have been happy with any offer from us that basically meant cancelling his current deal and signing a new one (either with us or someone else) so they get paid. as it stands they can't make any money from their new cash cow until 2025
 
Perhaps we are now seeing the rationalisation of some of these contract values. Fifita was never worth what the Titans paid, nor JT for the Cowboys. You cannot afford to pay forwards that kind of money. Not if you want to have a successful club.

There's also the argument that at least those two players can actually be regular game-breakers when they are in form. Haas is always in form and has never been a regular game-breaker - why a club would offer up a contract in the same ballpark as those two?

800K is being generous. The current deal he has is plenty good enough as it rolls on. There's no way we should be moving from it.
