Because we dropped this game we are going to have to get a win against either easts or Melbourne to sneak into top 4, on top of winning the games we should be favourites in. And then we get to play Penrith away…

It really shits me that we blew this opportunity, we should never have lost it.

the Storm game will likely be a must win to make the top 4. given their differential they'll need to lose 1 more game than us

Kevin was taking this as an easy win especially with the debut of Mariner when he wasn't needed. Definitely a big learning spot for Kevie never to assume a win when coaching in the NRL.

IMO, debuting Mariner was more like preparing for the finals. you'd want to avoid debutinh a guy in the finals if possible

Man, I was spruiking Selwyn in here long before he ever played a game for us and have been one of his biggest fans. I was leery about him being picked so soon because he'd only just evolved from a history of bumbles, errors, and sluggish chases. In fact I was the one who posited he might be recovering from Covid when all were screaming he be sent back to the Q Cup.

The notion I'm harbouring some nefarious hidden "agenda" whatever the **** that insane term means in this context, is beyond braindead. I can't take anyone seriously who uses that term unless they're talking about 911 and jet fuel melting steel beams.

Why did I think he shouldn't have played Game 3? Because on top of being so inexperienced, and having the highest error rate in the NRL, he put in the worst game ever seen in a QLD jersey in game 2. His first game was okay, enough to warrant sticking with him out of loyalty. But game 2 was an atrocity. And no, he wasn't the only one, but he was the worst.

As for all the histrionics about me daring to point out he didn't last two minutes in Origin 3. Well, I was half taking the piss after being the only one saying he should be dropped, but it was literally true. I thought the tackle that knocked him out was amateurish, and betrayed a lack of game awareness, but I realize everyone else will disagree. I don't care to go on with it. You want to say it was purely an accident. Fine. I don't care to go on with it, but I still think he needs more time in the NRL.

Is that enough or do we need further temper tantrums on the subject?

You know how it goes .
Say something ridiculous in jest and some folks take it seriously . There is no taking the piss / sarcasm font or emoji currently . The person who invents it is gonna be up for a Nobel Prize for all the conflicts and misunderstandings that are avoided .

TMM has to come back in. Tesi just doesnt have the awareness or urgency, far too casual and slow to picking up what is about to happen.

Watched the high lights .
Frame 2 Tesi made the tackle before and got left out of position . [not square at marker ] Tries to avoid giving away a penalty . And doesn`t commit . Paix legs , tackles Tiger slides over .

Seems to be a common tactic against the broncos for a few years now. Get the fullback committed to a tackle and there’s a good chance whoever is the fb will struggle to get back into position. Does this happen to other teams? I don’t catch many other games.

Yes... the fullback is basically always targeted when attacking the try line.

At worst they make the tackle, but if they get tangled up in the ruck then next play the backline can basically go without a fullback sweeping around the back

Also watched this in replay .
Capewell and Staggs were grabbing at air when the big fella ran past them .
But ,,, it`s Tesi`s fault because he didn`t run at the guy and his 3 support runners .

Agendas . It`s not just a McHunt thang eh ?

Correction it was Riki , Staggs and Reynolds missing badly that time .
Capewell and Ezra missed Doueihi later .

I don't really understand why we went right here.

We had a better chance of scoring on the left. A scrum in an attacking position, I would have thought they would have come up with an attacking play from the scrum using Mam and Oates on that left side. Faking to throw a cut out and going short to Oates, or drawing in the winger and throwing a cut out to Mariner.

Attacking plays from the scrum have been working for us quite well this season. I don't see why we didn't stick with what's worked for us throughout the year.

That was all Reynolds too. Strange that he didn’t even look behind him and was kind enough to point out the play for the Tigers defence … and then still ran it

^^ Adam's body language these days are of concern, lacking a bit of mojo. Dunno what's going on but someone tell him a joke or two.

Anywhere we put him he will be a defensive liability. There are better candidates in every position he could potentially fill in ‘23.

He should have gone to the titans when he had the opportunity because he is losing value with each game at fullback for us.

No more than Staggs and Reynolds or Capewell and Mam .
They let blokes run straight past them to score tries .How many tackle did Tesi miss ?

That is right. You have to be in position to tackle before you can miss one.

You don't get it do you? Im not comparing him to other players on the team. I am saying hes not good enough to be FB. He wouldn't even make FB in any of the top 8 teams.

He retreated to the line, to which he was then onside. He stood there and watched Paix.

But Kevin Walters and his selectors have disagreed with you .

Telling me won`t make much difference . And I`ll be surprised if Kev makes changes after 1 lost game .

Should have tackled after the Ref told him make the line ?
He didn`t make it to the line . Was offside .

Sure , 2 points and 10 in the bin to contemplate .

You would be jumping up and down then . Payne Haas had a similar dilemma earlier in the season . Caught out of position in front of the posts . Doesn`t attempt to tackle opposition score .DROP HAAS !! :rofl

I reckon the Storm would snap him up right now if we put him on loan.

I feel your pain though. I got loads of shit for saying Billy Walters is our weakest player. Can you think of a top 8 team that would take him as starting hooker? What about a bottom 8? He played his guts out against the Tigers, but my question still stands. How does he compare with Grant, Smith, Robson, Cook, Mahoney, Korisau etc?

Tesi is not our weakest player.
