CRICKET General Cricket Discussion - 2023/24

Sure as shit better than Finch and sure as shit better than him coming in at 6 or lower like he had him doing in the one dayers earlier on as if he wasn’t one of the best batsman in the country. As you said won’t work all the time and I’d probably steer clear of that being the opening replacement for one dayers but at t20 it seemed to have worked and I like it. Only thing is that heaps of Aussies are excelling in the opener position domestically and will probably snag it over him. Find him a place I. The top 6 in the t20 side for sure though. That hitting was not only destructive but beautiful.

We need Smith there though, to be the glue.

Sorry where?
3 or 4, depending on the game situation.

Need a guy capable of holding it togethor instead of someone who just shrugs after trying to switch hit the bowler for 6 and just saying “it wasn’t my day”.

Yeah I agree. But we don’t really have a locked in 4 in either format so Green might find a home there. I agree we need Smith in the t20 side. Has good tactics, great fielding and can be the lock of an innings.

I personally don’t think there is a way Green gets a run in the World Cup next month unless he gets a 60 every game considering the squad has already been picked. Injury barring that is.

Pucs made a 50 today.
Yeah saw the handy 60 he scored today. In one day as well which he previously hadn’t excelled in. Really Excited to see some batsman get some domestic time over the next few months in Hardie, Phillipe, Pucovski, Green (when he can), Hunt, Sangha, Renshaw and Street. Really need some of these boys to stand up (less so Green but I think a good domestic season could get him to the scoring 100’s phase) and prove they aren’t a group of Nic Maddinson’s who can do well in domestic but haven’t suggested they can provide any use to the Aussie side.

This game will be a t10 at best. Just pack up shop and head home.

100 for Phillipe, 90 for Short and 93 for Handscomb.

Both Phillipe and Short putting their hand up for the vacant opening space in the first game of the domestic season. Handscomb doing like wise at 2nd drop where there is a possible opening if someone was to really put their hand up.

25 off 37 needed with 5 in the bag. WA should get this done.

Australia is really going to regret naming the t20 squad 2 weeks to soon. 🤦‍♂️

Green is playing himself into a new house this series. His ipl contract is going to be nutty.
He needs to make sure he doesn’t play another game of cricket until the IPL and he will have a complete car collection to go with it as well.

One of the most disturbingly horrible but brilliant innings I have ever witnessed.

He’s an absolute freak who is getting better and better all the time. A once in a couple of generations talent.

He has probably just about risen to Australia’s best batsman over the 3 formats. Definitely most in form batsman in the country right now as well in any form. Heard one of the commentators call him a bowling all-rounder. He’ll nah this kid if not a genuine all-rounder is a batting all-rounder. Scary what he can do. Putting the likes of Marsh and Stoinis who have been heralded as world class all rounders (mainly due to a lock of them existing) to shame really in just a few games in all formats in what about 18 months in the Aussie setup.

Will be nuts if he doesn't play, has to be there instead or Marsh of Stoinis. He's a better batsmen, bowler and fielder than both.
