CRICKET Second Test- Australia v South Africa

Just on that point, how is Neser CLEARLY much better? If you include batting, sure. Bowling wise, their recent performances over the last two years are pretty similar. In fact, Morris might even be slightly better. If you were up against India, sure that batting would be handy but this isn’t India, this is arguably the worst test batting line up in the world. It isn’t giving away a test cap either, its future planning and it isn’t like Morris isn’t going to play at some point unless he breaks down with injury like Richardson who is the best of all three.
I'll say 300 FC wickets at 23 is better than 60 @ 25. And let's also add in that Neser has a Test bowling average of 17. Now we can also say Neser averages 25 with 2 hundreds, and Morris doesn't know which end to hold. Neser is superior in every way, and still has 2-3 years of good cricket in him, and can be a huge asset in England.
It’s not about the next man up always. At the minute the likely side will be Cummins, Hazlewood and Boland. Interchange any one of those players with Neser and you have the same issue. The issue that they are all line and length ‘handkerchief bowlers’. Cummins is a little bit less handkerchief since he likes to variate his lengths a bit more so that when he bowls the handkerchief ball he increases the likelihood of a wicket. Regardless none of them are intimidators, look you very well could get away with it against this batting from SA but if you don’t tactically play smart against teams you can win without having to just so someone who in my opinion deserves it can’t wear a baggy green.

Cummins, Hazlewood and Morris for mine next test match.
You don't need intimidators, that's such a myth. We have had the best attack in the world for some time and haven't had an "intimidator" I'll take skill over intimidation every day of the week.

That’s such bullshit of course we have had intimidators. Brett Lee, Mitch Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Denis Lilee and more. Not that Cummins, Hazlewood and Boland aren’t intimidating they just all serve up the same stuff. Look we might get away with it against South Africa but **** we can’t be allowing such an inexperienced coach to get away with shit tactics cause they will think it’s alright to do against good teams. We have 4 million line and length bowlers and that’s great but when Mitchell Starc gets injured you need someone else to take on that role. Cameron Green could have slightly taken on that role to get away with not having to hand out a baggy but he is now out and we also have the Indian series where both might still be out. Just cause Lance bowls 150’s doesn’t mean he lacks skill. Does Anrich lack skill? No he doesn’t. We have 1 test with a chance to blood Lance and get an idea of whether or not he gets a look in at getting on the plane to India or England cause there is rife competition.

When I said we have had the best attack for some time, I was pretty obviously talking about our current lot. Starc isn't an intimidating bowler. He is a swing bowler, nobody is scared of getting hurt when going to face him.
The way you type is so hard to read, but you want to give a bloke a test match to see if he should go to India? Why the **** would this guy be going to India, how many quicks do you want to take? With Green, we should be playing a maximum of 2 quicks, meaning H'wood and Boland will be reserve quicks.

Unless given that Jhye is fit again, they go with him. His batting has also come on in leaps and bounds and with his speed and ability to move the ball at a higher speed, he could be an absolute weapon in England and well, anywhere.

I disagree, anytime you got a guy getting about 145km/h, if it hits you it's going to hurt so obviously, batsmen will be intimidated by that.

He's not as aggressive as the Mitch Johnson's and the like but the shear pace of his bowling would be intimidating.

21 of the 40 wickets to fall at the SCG this shield season have been to spin. When you see that nine of the top 10 wicket takers in the Shield are quick bowlers that's significant.

WA didn't play Morris at the SCG and played Rocchiccioli and he got eight wickets of his career 21.

Green got nine. on debut and motm.

Move Carey to six, play Boland, Cummins and Hazelwood with Lyon and Swepson.

Look at this performance from SA in this test. All their bowlers who are around 140 or below have test averages going into this test of 22 or less. All three of them looked pedestrian as soon as the ball stopped doing anything up against a quality batting side.

Guess which bowler looked threatening non-stop and took the wickets when the ball wasn’t doing anything, the guy bowling serious heat and with the less impressive record of 27 per wicket (which is still excellent).

England always come to Australia with medium / medium fast bowlers and usually get slaughtered. The guys who make a difference? Archer and Wood. NZ always come to Australia and get belted despite having world class bowlers who are all fairly similar. The guys who make a difference? Wagner because he’s a lefty and Bond because he bowled serious heat.

The point is, you need a point of difference in your pace attack. If you go with Neser, he’ll go well because he’s against SA but against India, you’re in trouble because Neser, Cummins and Boland are all similar. Richardson or Morris offer something different which is needed in the absence of Green’s height and pace and Starc’s quick left arm.

Agree, serious pace just makes the batsman hop a bit, their back lift isn't as high, they don't know whether to commit forward or back and then they get a "hit me" ball and because their feet aren't moving the way they would like their weight isn't going through the shot and it creates a higher likelihood of a wicket.

You can offset a flat track with someone who can bowl quick enough to hurt you, I know they all hurt when you get hit but I mean hurt you in the sense that you can't really react as quickly as you'd be able to react to someone throwing them down at 130/135. Without Starc we need Morris, it's a simple one really. Not really saying that with an eye on the future, just saying that with an eye on the balance of our attack. The reason they were able to rest Hazlewood another game is because Boland brings the same thing, just as effectively.

It’s hard to believe that these guys are the 2nd best team in the world, well they were until India took on Bangladesh

Starc is really turning into a great bowler, think he's hitting his peak with the red ball. Skips IPL to focus on test cricket, bowls 140+ through injuries.

Also far out the Fox Sports clickbait headlines are shocking. They've always been bad but they have somehow gotten much worse recently.

I guarantee you they weren’t writing any headlines about the flying fox that nearly decapitated Nortje

I know it’s to pick up the over rate but it’s cool to see Smithy bowling again.
