POST GAME 2023 NRL Grand Final - Penrith vs Brisbane

As disappointed I am right now, I am also very proud of the team. It was a gutsy performance, but we were extremely poor for large portions of the game. We just kept inviting them back in with poor decisions and silly errors. We were our own worst enemy. The Panthers should consider themselves very lucky.

This team has shown that they have the ability to learn from their mistakes. Perhaps the occasion got to them. Perhaps injuries played a part. Perhaps we lacked experience. Either way, as much as I think that was a missed opportunity, I am hopeful that as a team we will be better for having experienced it.

Sorry gang, not horny, very flaccid and these are not lube like tears. Heart ripped out and this sucks so bad.

I still think its a lot to ask 21 year old back rower to perform consistently and be the main man. I personally think he will start next year, but i dont expect him to do what say Fifita did for us.
Na but he doesn't need to. Just needs to keep getting better. Capewell still has a good year or 2 to usher him in

And to think we got that close to the best team over the past 3 seasons with Reynolds, Walsh and somewhat Carrigan not having their best games.
If either Walsh or Reynolds have a good game we win that.
I really think all the hype and talk of Walsh in the media this week got the best of him tonight.

Devastated. Gutted. Super proud.

Wasn't the game a lot of these guys wanted, it seemingly didn't go to script, then it did, then it didn't again. Not going to single anyone out though. Without each and every one of them we wouldn't have been there playing tonight.

The thing I hate the most is how long we have to wait now to watch them again.

Love this team, always.

I just can’t get over that last try. There was nothing on. Our defence just needed to slide over. Walsh could have pulled carrigan over but they all stood still at the ruck. It was one last ditch effort needed and the trophy is ours.

tbh….
I am so proud of everyone at the whole organisation. They turned a basket case around and got us within 3 mins of the trophy…. It’s fucked. The result is crushing.
HOWEVER…
We’re set up for a HUGE couple of years coming up, I’m very excited!!!

I know it's not his game but Reece Walsh needs to get involved more when his team is on the back foot. Compared to Edwards it was a different level tonight. He isnt much smaller than edwards. He can provide a bit more in the little areas.

The truth is the 2 people who got the Broncs to the grand final Reynolds and Walsh actually cost you the grand final..
Penrith where rushing Staggs constantly all game in defence If Walsh had just done cut outs to Cobbo Broncos would have had a field day tbh.

Our weaker defensive side set up perfectly and covered Cleary so he had no choice but to step in. I bet he couldn’t believe his luck seeing our cover defense wasn’t there.

Na but he doesn't need to. Just needs to keep getting better. Capewell still has a good year or 2 to usher him in

My original point though is we need a back rower capable of being a threat on a regular basis. I think we lack a bit in that department, ours are all just steady, solid players. Peeks is a couple of years of footy away from really hitting his straps big time imo.
