We need to let Cobbo go unless he take unders to stay. We can't afford paying top dollar to another player in our squad . An extension at current pay is the only offer that should be made for the sake of the cap. Not personal just reality. He hasn't earnt a pay rise based on his performance or professionalism in any case so I am glad we havent put one forward at this point. Looks like another young potential elite player we have developed for another team's benefit but that is the way it is under the cap.
Mam, Walsh, Mozer, Carrigan, Willison, Haas, Black are the core players longer term and Black and Mozer will need some experience first graders in their positions as they develop. I don't think Madden or Rogers are good options in this regard.
Next year we need a Walsh Backup, some first grade standard outside backs for depth and cheap first grade standard second rowers. Not sure these players are even on the market.
We lose Pereira, Oates, Hoeter, and probably Hetherington and Karapani so we will have to replace them and we need experienced backups not kids with potential. If we can move on Paix that would help but seems impossible.
The year after we will probably have to replace Reynolds and Cobbo. It seems like we wait to see if players will stay and by the time the move on for more cash we have no backup plan.
