I can't be the only one sitting here thinking how we'd be going if Kev were still the coach.
I haven't come up with anything that indicates we'd be doing worse, which isn't a high marker but it does make you wonder if we backed the right horse.
I think this year is a delicate year for the broncos... mostly because of how many players are off contract this year and also next year. I think there's like 20 players off contract over the next couple years and big decisions have to be made.
If the club had concerns about Kevvie, then you don't necessarily want him making roster decisions that effectively lock you into the next 3yrs, because that would hamstring the next guy that might have to come in.
So you pull the plug early, especially if you can see a guy on the market that you want.
My issue with the club is who is the footy mind that is overseeing where the club is at.
There aren't many coaches in the league that can double up as a manager of football.. it's basically Wayne and Bellamy.
Uncle Nick does it for rorters... mostly by throwing money at any problems Robbo comes to him with... also uses his vast amount of contacts across the league.
Gus setup the panthers and has now sorted out dogs.
I thought Ikin was our guy, but Kevvie saw to him getting ousted... so who is left at the club that can look at the football department and actually assess if it's heading in the right direction.
Who in the club does a review on the season / watches over the day to day running and reports back to the CEO / Board about what's happening and if changes are needed.
They also need to have an ear to the ground on best practices at other clubs and if we are doing it.
Lockyer being on the board could be that guy, but I don't think he's doing it at all... or if he wants to do it or is even capable of doing it.
Lockyer doesn't seem like he's some junior Gus that has ideas on how the club should operate.
