Is it similar to the way that Qld had Holmes doing in the first half of Origin? That was effective in generating quick play the balls.

With his footwork that could be a very effective strategy to use with mariner.

Not too dissimilar but Queensland used the ball to move edges back to the middle- Mariner was just running there.

It's definitely something we could use more of.

Staggs running hard back into the middle would be a good use of it.

Same with Piaks, but really he is still getting used to playing backrow in the NRL.

Turning Haas under from out wide and coming back into the middle at speed... we did that vs dogs and caused carnage on Mahoney.

Shiba would be fine as well, but he's not as violent in his running, so doesn't cause as much carnage... Karapani could be an option moving forward though.

Even Arthars likes to run hard and creates half breaks if there's a bit of space in front of him.

It might be coming back in vogue, because it creates a bit of disruption in the defensive line... defensive lines are too solid and disciplined nowadays, that teams need to look for any opportunity to manufacture some disruption... quick ptb, offloads and running where the defence isn't expecting to see you

It was smart by Burt and the Bears, they have two great outside running backs in Leo and Mariner and they're using them to make ground and get to spots on the field they want to be.

It was obvious yesterday it was up to Koellner to take one and then Rogers would use Leo and Mariner and the Jets couldn't stop it.

The thing that would be on club's minds is the Warriors gave him two years and he didn't crack it and Wynnum have never put him up for a pre-season. Wynnum are pretty good judges.

Maybe if his good year continues he will get a pre-season in November.

I think he only did a year at warriors, came back early for Wynnum.

He's gotten bigger over the last few years, just a slighter frame that he'll have to grow in to.

Plays multiple positions too.

Suttons slim too, but we should be able to beef them up.

What's size got to do with it?

He played 23 and 24 for the Warriors NSW Cup side.

He played SG ball for the Panthers too. So he's been in two NRL systems.

Delouise 100th game for Wynnum this week- 146 overall.
Rogers needs one try for 50 Cup tries.

Randomly just noticed Tremayne spry in the wynnum extended squad today.

Didn't he get kicked out of nrl for assaulting someone? Sad really, when he was assaulted a few years earlier. Sound like they were both alcohol related. But geez he seemed like a talent, would be a great depth signing if he is rehabable and driven, and has kept his talent. Unlikely, but still interesting he's making a comeback via our feeder club

He's been playing BRL. I would want to know why he left Redcliffe after one game last year.

Cooper Bai making his Cup debut this week for Tweed. Titans have seen enough of him in 20's.
Probably realising after his U19's game that 16 other teams will be watching him very closely and they need to figure out what kind of contract they'll need to pay by seeing him up against men.

I'm surprised all the talk out of that game was Coby (not really surprised), when Bai looked a man amongst boys.

He's got a famous name and he looked ridiculously good amongst his peers... physical and some decent looking ball playing.

I think his dad just got put on the PNG board as well didn't he?

Should be a million articles about PNG trying to poach

Baxter Best two tries tonight v Redcliffe High. He is starting now in Year 10 after two games off the bench.

No Antonio Verhoeven this week, sad after his great try last week. I want to watch him more.

Jamil Hopoate fresh out The Joint too.. time to get the band back together.

Sunny Kama on debut tomorrow for Tweed.

Two QLD Under 19’s tomorrow.

Francis and Verhoeven playing Under 20 from school.

That was a wild and different ride.

Tweed drops the kick off and Bears score after 15 seconds.
From the kick off Bears work down field, Rogers bombs and Tweed drop it and West scores. 12-0 after three minutes.
Mariner first try backing up Leo and scores inside- 16-0 after seven minutes.

Bears 22-0 after 27 minutes Then Tweed get moving and it's 22-22 after 48 minutes.

Bai on debut pushes through three to score for Tweed to go ahead his second try he was on the right and runs 20m pushing guys out of the way and then wrestles like a mad man to get the ball down.

Mariner's second try was unbelievable, and I would say best try he's ever scored. Gets the ball from West 70m out, has a two Seagulls on him straight away but pushes them away and goes between them somehow. Beats another two and now some space, over halfway and another three sort of grab him but he's through them and runs the remaining 30m to score. I count six tackle breaks but maybe some didn't even get a hand to him.

Third Marniner try seems boring, just spins out and beats three. Yawn.

Somehow Bears win 46-30.
