OFFICIAL Jonah Pezet to join Broncos in 2027

I guess the parra doctors and physios won't put much priority on him though, there's a chance he turns up needing proper rehab on something.

I must say it’s really bizarre signing from the Eels. It really is the epitome of cuck territory. For what they are trying to build at the minute it makes no sense to sign and develop a player like Pezet at the expense of your own products.

Don’t get me wrong they have a nice little spine they have put together for next year but they aren’t challenging for anything beyond scraping the 8 if they are lucky either. I think they were sitting comfy enough as is with Hawkins and Papalii there. I'm a big fan of Joash albeit as a fullback but in attack he is a very good player, drilling the defensive side of things for an off season and seeing where that gets you would be far more beneficial. There just isn't enough upside for next year to have to take a step back in 27 to bother. Not to mentino Lorenzo who might be a stretch to chuck in the deep in 26' but if you had to you would.

For the Broncos, like I said Black just isn't looking great in the right components as a halfback. Was an issue all the way back in Meninga when he was just a bit of a passenger that would just shuffle around the field and get the ball on 5th and put in a booming kick, he doesn't have an overly potent running game or playmaking ability, defence scratchy as well. He has a magnificent boot in fairness but there is a lot more to being a halfback than a big shoe. Duffy signing to me suggested Broncos were seeing the same issues as myself, I would have been very pleased with Duffy who has played very well in cup but Pezet has won a q-cup comp and stood up when needed for the Storm, he is of a higher class. Hope for both Duffy and Black that when the time is right they get an opportunity at NRL elsewhere, both seem like great level headed and decent blokes. Selfishly hope Duffy can stick around beyond the year cause I think he will turn into an excellent player.

Won't get to excited till its signed sealed delivered cause it is a very odd deal that will have certain people second guessing (specifically Parra).

The question is ... Do you pass on signing the best young half in the game because you hope your home grown rookie can eventually live up to expectations

Or do you snap up the this young half and force your home grown player to fight for the position.
Pezet hasn't played enough to know if he that good.

Eels missed out 8 by 3 games with Moses missing 13 matches. They beat us full strength also Roosters, Warriors and just lost to Melbourne at back end of they year. With growth of young player's they be hard team to beat so it's good idea getting Pezet as they have huge wraps on Lorenzo

I guess there's no guarantees with any young half but he's won a QCUP grand final, dominated Origin U19'S, and in his 1 NRL finals match had a try assist, 2 line break assists and a 40/20. He also had a heap of sides chasing him and the Storm potentially prepared to move Munster to fullback to accommodate him. I'm feeling very good about this signing.

That's true for the average fan like you and me ...

But it's a different story for the likes of Madge, Scanlon and the recruitment team.

They would have seen him play plenty in both the NRL (18 games) and the state leagues (28 games) ... And by now they'd seen enough of Black in the QLD Cup (21 games) to know if they should be strengthening this position.

Fox Sports playing it like he can't sign with us for another 10 days (November 1)

Interestingly, if that contract was signed today, he would be unable to negotiate with rivals for 2027 for 10 days, until the November 1 free agency deadline arrived.

That’s when a deal can be struck with the Broncos, with the rising star set to become Adam Reynolds’ long-term halfback replacement at Red Hill after a pit stop in Parramatta.

They conveniently forget that there is no rule stopping him from signing the Bronco contract first ... or getting permission from Parra (likely as part of the negotiations) to sign with us before the November 1 deadline arrives

Probably just to get the Sydney circle jerk up and about.

It would be interesting to know when that article was posted, because SEN was texts about "How can we even be talking to him before November 1 !!!"

I was worried about 2027 before with no proven half-back, this could extend our window by a lot. Probably will have to lose someone we wanted to keep, with some players due for an upgrade but you take a good halfback over anything that's not Reece Walsh.

Good message to send to your juniors biding their time that you’ll sign someone else!

Good for Brisbane but I don’t get it
Mate for years we have been saying that the Broncos need to go to market more even just to send a rocket through the group.

For way to long we just brought the next Lockyear up to see them fumble around unprepared for the bigs. You don't let opportunities go bye like this one. If a guy like Pezet hits the market you move for him.

So we break our Storm regular season Suncorp hoodoo in Round 27, we then go on to beat the Storm in the GF to go 2/2 against them in Grand Finals, their underrated outside back (Grant Anderson) is on his way to us, now their most talented young playmaker (Jonah Pezet) has also seen the light and is coming too. This is after Harry Grant in his GF speech said that Dozer deserved a ring and then liked us on social media. This too also after Bellamy is linked to bail on the sinking ship at the end of 2026, Nelson gone and Papenhuyzen likely gone.

Only one picture can sum up how I feel at the moment in regards to the team that has caused us so much heartache over the last 20 years…
They still have Xavier Coates.
