OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

We can't be mad at him. He's given his all for the club. Certainly mad that he's leaving but he's done enough for us and will always be considered a Broncos legend.
Oh yes we can. Bailed his dumb ass out of a bind on more than one occasion, bent over backwards to accommodate him and his deadshit managers demands, floated captaincy to him, stood by him when he was part of the team that got us out first spoon.
**** him and his career, hope the wheels fall off hard.

Wow. Heart breaking stuff.
Different sport or country made sense.
No other club in the NRL would be able to offer more $$$ than us when you package salary, endrosements, post-career legacy, etc.
He doesn't even have any ties to Souths. So strange.
Newcastle I would understand.
At least it isn't the Roosters I guess.
He does have connections there.
Mates from the NSW Blues and old coach Wayne.

Can we have some grown ups in the chat please 😂

Media already having a field day like the broncos did him wrong somehow…
It'll be like "RABBITS INFLICT PAYNE ON THE BRONCOS! HOW WAYNE ORCHESTRATED THE SIGNING OF THE CENTRY!" with journos going on about how they got one back on us after Madge/ Arey.

Meanwhile, the reality is that they are very likely paying Haas close to 2 million dollars and we won a comp with their ex-coach and halfback.

I think Haas is worth 1M+, but no other prop is. He probably caused the inflation of other props getting paid big overs. I don't think the Broncos need to panic and replace him with an overpaid front rower. Maybe make a couple of smaller, smarter signings like improving the 2nd row position.
Big agree.

If you start getting to a $1.5m mark (pure speculation number but he isnt leaving us to go to Souths for same or less), you are just butchering your cap.

I dont think you can afford to pay a prop that much and properly compete. I think we were legit on the borderline for Max you could pay a prop.

The amount we need to pay to keep our proper game breakers and winners, im glad we didn't go higher for Haas.
