OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Im not over on the cowboys forums laying the boot in ya numpty wanker. Legit you understand how fan forums work right clown?
Im not laying the boot in. Where did I lay the boot in? Please point that out. I thought you had me blocked anyway. Feel free to do it again.

I think the disloyal arguments are rubbish to be honest.

He was loyal when we were a basket case and helped deliver us our first premiership in 19 years.

He’s earned the right to now look after his family. They only have a short amount of time to earn before their careers are over.

I dont think he is disloyal, he's like pretty much every player, he wants money. What people get pissed about is quotes like this from him talking about a contract extention last year.

“We want to stay in Brisbane. That’s the main priority,” Haas said at the Blues’ camp in Leura.

“We know where we both stand and I couldn’t see myself playing for another club. Hopefully we get that deal done. If not, it is what it is.

“My family’s there (in Brisbane), we love it and there would be no point in my leaving.”

Bunch of bums other then Lindsay Smith

you'll be waiting as long time if you try to replace Haas with another Hass-like player. I can only think of two in the game. we already have one, the Sharks have the other.

what you can do is balance your squad with the 1.2 million losing Haas frees up.

move our Haas-like player into a starting role, get your self a quality bench player and strengthen the depth in our weakest position.

while Haas will obviously be a big loss, it won't leave us in a much worse position overall

Gaslight all you want clown, its there for all to see and not like its the first time you've done it.

so for those that watch the ESL are there any props / backrowers over there worth pursuing with Haas' money

Back in 2022 I did a bit of prof-dev with the emerging Broncos program. The day Haas kicked up a stink, they took up a whole day just for him. Board meeting in the AM, then Donuts met with Ikin and Kevvie, then Kevvie met with the coaching staff, then Kevvie Donuts and Ikin met with Haas's management. A whole day taken up for Payne Haas.

I love and respect what he's done for the club. That footage of him putting pressure on Cleary in the prelim is etched into my brain. The celebs after with his bleeding eye...

Still, though. That tantrum sort of left a sour taste in all our mouths and I'd just quietly agree with @Wolfie when he'd give his take on Haas.

Thanks, Payne. All the best and goodbye. Will miss you on the pitch but I won't miss the circus around your contract negotiations every year

Taking my Carrigan glasses off and talking objectively, losing Pat would have a bigger impact than losing Payne will because he's the glue of the club. When you read Reyno's book you clearly pick up on it.

I agree with you, if we recruit well we could come out of this with a more balanced squad as we wont be so reliant on 2 forwards.

True, one of Crowe's probably
& his daughter just started school, so they’ll definitely be offering an amazing house with the best school for her. Unfortunately it’s not something broncos can compete with.

He is from Sydney and so is his partner, So it could just be the perfect time for them to return.

people saying hes a mercenary, just about the money would all leave their shitty jobs they've got now for and extra few bucks an hour.... hes been our best player for 8 years, never once not put in.

this is a massive **** up by the club

Bit surprised but not shocked to be honest, he was always going to be that Player that's too big to keep, only a matter of time before some other Club came along and drove a dump truck full of Money up to his house and I don't blame him for taking it. They only have X amount of years to earn as much as possible, plus the Family issues he has it's completely understandable.

He was crucial in breaking the drought, especially against the Faiders and played a monumental 80 against Penrith. He'll always have been apart of something truly special.

Now all that said I can also be little petty.
I see his mates Latrell Mitchell and David Fifita were involved in luring him there, maybe he can be a proper role model for them and his hard work ethic rubs off on them.
lol, I doubt it.
Payne is likely going to be quite lonely in 2028, I cant see the Rabbits offering Latrell a new Contract, his tenure there has been nothing but injurys and suspensions, I reckon the Club higher ups are still nursing a grudge about his dog-shot on Joey Manu that cost him 6 Weeks, lol and his Club a Premiership.
He's played 10 fewer games at Souths in 6 Seasons than 4 at the Roosters, not worth the $$$.

Fifita is simply another Dave Taylor, has all the natural talent in the World but just wont put the effort in.
Unsurprisingly another great South Sydney Buy.

This whole thing reeks of Bennet though, I underestamated just how much of a chip on the shoulder he has with his former Club, he must be fuming that a Coach other than him was able to take the Broncos all the way to a Premiership.

If he's on less than 1.6 Million I'll eat my hat, Souths have now wrecked their Salary Cap and for what.
So their Coach can feel like he's got one back on his old rivials and 2 lazy, injury prone Contract failures can play with a mate.

The System Madge is building, plus young exicting Players like Walsh, Mam, Pezet and Patty is going to have eager young and up-an-coming Forwards breaking the door down (not Lodge though), and we will have 1.4 Million to spend.

Sorry for long post, just got carryed away.
