POST GAME Trial - Brisbane Broncos v Souths Logan Magpies

Semu played decent Riki played really good I’d say if any injurys happen he might make the starting side good depth
Yeah I thought Semu was good, but definitely looked a rung lower than he was last week.

If you had to rely on someone going for 40mins in NRL, I'm not sure if it's Semu just yet. I'm not sure if it's BTK either.

Preston probably looks more physically ready for NRL, but it's more about fitness in NRL at the moment... Riki is like mid-20's at this point as well, so his body is potentially more conditioned at this point.

TBH Francis is probably the one I'm thinking is closest... his whole style of play just looks NRL at the moment.

And the fact he backed it up two weeks in a row - impressive, particularly at his age.

It was hot today really hot so the guys that got through 40 minutes did really well.

There are six Broncos that have never played Cup so I think these games are really good insight into where they are at and could be by the end of this year.

Souths aren't a good Cup side but they're still more mature than six Broncos.

I thought with the heat factored in the Broncos were more in the physical contest and the drop off after 20 minutes was not as pronounced.

Bukowski toughed it out in the heat and with a sore ear and showed some hooker guile in the first Bryce try. He ran more today and not just run to score a 3m try but run to create disruption and confusion.

Thought Bryce showed some Bears' line running.

Francis showed his great late footwork and his passing. I want him to play Meninga v Tigers next week and keep his momentum going. Him and Gundry could be excellent next week.

Arthur's has shown me why he isnt our 17 and why we are willing to release him.

Buk, Francis, Verhoeven, Duffy all had pretty good games. Showed enough of what you want to see from guys on their level
Francis will be playing 1st grade before we know it. I can see him playing 13 and Carrigan moving to prop.

It doesn't change him too much, his two tries in the Grand Final last year were at 13 but in the middle under the posts and to the right of the posts running angles.

Meninga debut made 24 tackles in the middle against Cooper Bai also at front row against an undefeated Tweed. Whose forwards had killed everyone. Might not be the last time they come up against each other.

His winning Grand Final play in ET was at front row in the middle 60m out from a horrible play the ball and flat footed- ran 40m gets to Kirk and throws a pass to Whaiapu to score.

One NRLQ game was off the bench, I don't think Waqa Sefo and Turner will ever get a start over him again.

City v Country he was prop and made 19 tackles in the middle. Didn't have the attacking impact he has but defended well.

In summary just get him on the field, don't think it matters he just needs to be in the middle getting the ball.

Thought McConnell was good too, should have said that. He's got that second gen tough footballer thing going on, pops up, fills in finds a way.

Similar to Plath at Wynnum I am not sure if he's a long term NRL player, but he will hang around and do his best- you can't have enough of those players at your club, and I'd always find them a spot.

Seemed like a smart footballer and opportunistic. Reminds me a bit of how Ezra plays.

Big year for Tupou...

Presumably Meninga, Langer, u19 Origin and NRLQ with some cup back end is a decent amount of footy for him. Will be interesting to see where he is at come the end of all this.

Was there, was like watching kids play their unfit dads. The sets Souths had a bit of energy about them cause the Broncos a lot of trouble. Milf hiding on the wing most the game, the boys better turn their fitness around for Qcup.
