NRL 2026 Round 1 Discussion

Toddy is on borrowed time. Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Into his 6th year as head coach now and still hasnt found a formula thats working. Players have to take some responsibility as well, but Todd has been there long enough to have a team of players he wants.

I was still confident of my tip at 22-18 but that forward pass from Clifford and tap on from Purdue spoiled it. The Knights were beginning to taper off until those mistakes from the Cowboys.

In fairness to Clifford, the build-up wasn't flash. I can understand playing for an offload, but they threw several and nobody had the foresight to just in towards the posts and load up again down the edges.

Still, happy for the Knights and Ponga well and truly stepped up in that second half.

How has Purdue come from a guy that failed badly at 6 to being "the match winner they need" (according to Ginane).

Is it simply because he's off contract and his manager has shouted them all a pub feed?
As Purdue's #1 fan I feel at liberty to speak on this.

The Cowboys were deep inside their own half and as the fastest player at the Cowboys, Purdue shaped as their best long-field option.

Of course, Drinkwater had to be the guy and what the Cowboys should have been looking for was a way to generate a legs tackle and get Drinkwater out of dummy half with Dearden/Purdue/Clifford pushing through but no dice.

As our professional foul expert, what did you make of Taulagi's intercept? Should Ponga have been binned?

Looks to be the same issue with cowboys as last year. Pretty confident they will miss the 8 this year

Odds on Toddy to be the first Coach in NRL history to be sacked before boarding the Flight home?
