POST GAME [Round 3, 2026] - Broncos vs Storm

Say what you will about Paix, you can see the logic in why we are looking to re-sign him, he's not flashy but he just played 90 and has been physically robust, he is just one of those dependable players that plays every game.

He's safe, you know he's fit, can play 80 and won't make mistakes. Madge doesn't need him to win games he just needs him to be an 80's hooker, make your tackles and get the ball to the big boys when they call.

It's conservative as far as hookers go in 2026 but they're the two things that Madge wants at the moment.

Mozer was never playing yesterday bar some sort of massive injury to Paix.

Burt is expecting him today.

I think in this new world of 6 agains you need a 9 that can rush the defence and engage the markers.

Sure, we probably get by without someone like Grant but damn, It would open up so many more attacking opportunities.

How good is league when the whistle is put away.

If you ever want to see the difference between whatever the heck Hitler has turned this into and good, traditional league - just watch those two halves.

There was more this game, average six agains this year is 8 and the game had 12 and average penalties is 11.5 and this game had 11.

I agree, I have been saying since 2019 about Paix that he doesn't help your halves because they just move off him so it has put extra pressure on the other players.

Markers and A defenders don't have to hold at all just get out and up.

Thought the Broncos scramble defence was back, that's their defensive strength, don't think they're ever going to be a keep teams to 12 team and don't think they want to be to be honest.

The Storm's set distance was massive compared to Brisbane. Storm's pre-contact metres were staggering- Brisbane wasn't moving up at all. Storm were going 6.1m before getting to a Broncos defender- Broncos were going 5.5 before they got to a Storm. The normal pre-CM for winning teams is 6.7m so neither team hit that KPI.

Anderson was great, he's selfless the exact type of player they needed last night.

The Broncos' experienced players were all good last night,

Of those set restarts 9 were first half with none from the 50 min mark.
Penalties were 7 first half and 9 by the 42nd min 1 in the 77th min.
A big period of that second half had very few interruptions and was far more enjoyable viewing.

I didn't check the breakdown just the end outcome against averages. I think the two best games have been this weekend and both were low scoring.

Sad to say but I think we’ve now had a big enough sample size to say that we are better off with Hunt at 7 than Reyno. No disrespect.

We just seem more robust and conservative with Hunt, once he gets into the arm wrestle. We played boring footy for about 50 minutes and it was fantastic.

On a petty level, something just feels good about having a Queenslander halfback.

Also, Patty just clearly seems like an incredible captain

Check out the run straight into Walsh's back and immediate look at the ref. In a team of unlikeable ****wits, Hughes is fast becoming my number one.

Also Storm fans are complaining about the Piaks hit. Come on, guys, be serious.

How the **** was Hughes not penalised for that shit... the scum are seriously allowed to do whatever they want

Old mate put that clip up complaining about the shot on Hughes not being given haha. Have a look at the weasel changing direction to run into Walsh.

Watch the obstruction pen he got. He goes to make a decision to go out and jumps back in front of I think Willison to get the penalty.

Blokes the biggest diver in the league. Plays for the perfect team
