Broncos Statement

Brisbane Broncos can confirm that NRL Assistant Coach Ben Te’o has resigned from his position within the Club’s Football Department.

The Club is in ongoing discussions with Ben regarding his future and the timing of his departure.

Arrangements have not yet been finalised.

First and foremost, the Club is focussed on supporting Ben and his family through this process and prioritising their wellbeing and welfare.

just heard dobbo tee off on broncos about the wording of that article.
says he has spoken to Teo and his mentel wellbeing is more then fine.
Says wrong of broncos to word it this way.

says He quite because of argument with maguire. says he is very much against what maguire is doing.
whatever that means

The media is at least 24 hrs behind this story.
Teo was out the door on Monday morning.
It's not a problem from a defence coach POV it's a problem because Teo was well liked among the players.

I'm not sure it is a good thing for a coach to be "very much against" winning premierships.

Hell, being "very much against" beating Melbourne 3 straight times (including our first win in Melbourne in a decade) is also not good for a Broncos coach

We'll never know the intricate details and even though it looks ordinary and I shouldn't even speculate... however.... unless Madge said or did something really unhinged this actually looks pretty poor on Ben, IMO.

Who out there doesn't argue with business partners or colleagues occasionally but you have a chat and work through it and all is good?

Playing devil's advocate (because I've got no idea) but could those wins be because OF Te-o's defensive coaching?

I wouldn't really care that he's left but the fact he was well liked by the playing group is a worry. Certainly looking from the box Madge looks so much calmer but behind the scenes maybe he is still full-on?

I don’t understand why they worded it that way either, he quit, why would we have an ongoing obligation to him or his family, **** him.

According to Riccio, so who knows, apparently it is down to Teo waiting to be assistant coach with QLD but Madge wanted him to stay focused on The Broncos.

Isn’t that just the standard wording you see all the time when someone leaves a job either sacked or quit?

I think it reflects terribly on a guy who has few runs on the board as a coach or as an nrl assistant. He’s apparently an ambitious guy, perhaps his inexperience has led him to believe what he thinks matters more than the head coach?

Well now he has all the time in the world to be an assistant for 3 games a year.

doesn't make much sense. as much as dobbo shits me i think you gotta take what he says as truth.

he is happy to say he literally called and spoke to teo today.
teo asked him not to go into specific details but was aloud to say it was due to a disgreement with maguire on how the footbal club is being managed / ran right now. and he couldnt continue to work with him when he is very against whataever it is Maquire has choose or is choosing to do this year.

so who knows. Whatever way you slice it its not a good look for maguire. with all the other whispers around already.

if we get flogged by the phins this game then imagine the noise that is going to come out.
really feel for playing group.

you just one the premiership broke all sorts of records. and its 3 games in and you have to deal with your number one forward leaving the club and now you assistant coach quitting immediately.
