Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Gus strikes again
That's 2 from 2 now they have snared from the Bronx only for them to be back in Brisbane within months. Gus will be frustrated, at least he didn't chuck in a 500k transfer fee this time. Seems Oliva Smith didn't work out for them either. Fumbled some very good talent now the Bulldogs due to varying circumstances.

Wonder what's behind the game time in union, his cousin is George Francis who has popped around a few super teams and is a notable name in QPR rugby for souths so it explains why Souths but not so much why Rugby.

Kiwi boy so naturally would have a greater affinity to union than lots of others, but still. I'm a big union fan (not as big as league but still big) and if I had his talent, there is no way I'd be wasting it to play union in its current form. He is talented enough that Wallabies is a near certainty quite early on in his career, but super rugby is so shit.

Wonder if the release was conditional of not joining competitors for a certain period. In saying that opportunity isn't rife up here for spots. He left the dogs cause he was homesick, that leaves 3 NRL teams and Super Rugby side.

Broncos:
Fullback: Reece Walsh, Seth Gundry, Barry Taukolo
Halves: Jonah Pezet, Tom Duffy, Ezra Mam, Braithen Scott, Chanel Harris Tavita

Dolphins:
Fullback: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Trai Fuller, Derek Ah Wang, Adaquix Luke
Halves: Kodi Nikorima, Isaiya Katoa, Toby Batten, Noah Fien, Adam McSherry, Karl Oloapu

Titans:
Fullback: Keano Kini, AJ Brimson, Jaylan De Groot,
Halves: Jayden Campbell, Zane Harrison, Tom Parker

As much as David is as talented as anyone on those lists. Development systems are stacked up (barring Titans) and opportunities in first grade are slim, especially at fullback which would be his most likely avenue to first grade you'd have to think with his size (mind you his frame has gotten bigger).

Long story short its either Titans or Union with the current state of Broncos and the Dolphins stocks in those 2 positions. He has walked straight into prem grade for rugby union which is a very high level still (quality of players and competition is in line with q-cup). If the dogs still have his rights in league he'd be off to union (in a professional setup that is). Certainly isn't with the dogs in any form based off the fact he is playing union. If he wanted to stick to the league route you'd have to think he would have easily gotten a deal with a cup team or even the Titans would have surely had a crack. All roads point to union here which is a really weird loss for the game.

QLD Reds (and RA) might not believe there luck very soon lol.

A rising Western Downs rugby league star who has helped secure back-to-back Grand Final wins in the southwest has signed a deal with the Brisbane Broncos.
Teenager Bobby Hardy-Thompson signed onto a three-year deal with the Broncos academy, where he is set to don the iconic maroon and gold jersey in Townsville on April 24 against the Cowboys’ U17 team.

He was starting front row for Country on the weekend, Country smashed City 36-8.

He only played 23 minutes- it was really odd interchanges; he played 13 minutes and then another 10.

Bit hard to get anything from that game.

Yeah weird interchange that.

Well I’ll be blowed

Is how I would feel if I were a Dolphin fan. Lose Isaako keep Cobbo. YAY!

How is the Phins keeping a player we don't have and not interested in a "Blow for Brisbane Broncos fans"

I notice there is no comments section, so people can't call Sam Goodwin on his bullshit

The same reason for every other bullshit article involving us. We get clicks and that's all that matters.

I love the mileage that ‘salary cap constraints’ always gets given with how we didn’t want to re-sign Cobbo. It’s the footy version of ‘It’s not you it’s me’ but people seem to act like we were desperate to keep him but just couldn’t lol. It’s weird how people act around him like they are trying to spare his feelings.

How times have changed. I can remember myself and @Cult getting a fair bit of stick for commenting on Cobbo being lazy and unprofessional. Now he's a Dolphin, most people have come around to the same way of thinking 😁
I think he's playing out of position and is better as a centre, but he also hasn't been the same since that massive concussion in origin a few years back.

I do still think a lot of it with him is attitude. He's a bit Dave Taylor like in that he loves playing, but he doesnt love putting in the hard yards on the training field. Apparently, he came back to pre season at the Phins quite a bit overweight.

Contrary to this, reckon Badel reported that he’s turned up to preseason in top shape, the best he has ever been and training the house down. That top shape barely lasted it seems.

I may have Bronx eyes but I don’t ever feel like I’m missing the likes of Herbie, Cobbo & etc.
In Herbies case especially when he’s playing against us, I feel like flogging & bashing the prick when he’s making cheap meters forward 😀.
