POST GAME [Round 10, 2026] - Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Now by no means do I think he's shit (just putting it out there up front), but to be honest, I've been a bit underwhelmed with him. With the hype around him, I expected a bit more. Now totally understand it's his second game, he's young and hasn't played a lot of cup yet but there have been other 19yo to come into the NRL and have looked pretty good straight off the bat.

I think he'll come good if the hype is right but he looks to have bad Cobbo vibes for me especially with his hands. I know I'm being harsh but just expected a little more given all the talk around him. At present, he looks to be a good 2 to 3 years away from regular NRL.

I said this earlier in the Cup season that his Cup form was very much based on who is inside him and he wasn't doing a lot of his own yet. If you read his stats, you're going to think he's killing it with two tries, and 8 tackle breaks with 112m. But it wasn't really happening that way.

He's also played two NRL games, one on late notice and one in a team that sucked.

Ideally, he wouldn't even be playing NRL yet, earlier next year would have been much better. I think you're seeing the performances of a young centre playing wing in a team that isn't performing after six Cup games that was playing Allan Langer Cup 12 months ago.

You're seeing the same thing at the Storm this year, normally the Storm have marinated players in Cup for 40 games before they are sure you're NRL ready and this year Clarke has zero, Hinchey 1, Peel 6 and Huen 4 career Cup games before their NRL debut.

Still thought there were some positives as well. Despite playing injured he made more metres than any other player in the side. He's raw but he's coming along well. Considering he was on a training contract and wasn't in the squad he's ahead of expectations.

I think our biggest loss won't be coming back this year most likely - Mariner. He makes so many metres, line breaks, tackle breaks and is fast. We lose so much without him and as talented as Verhoeven and Poates might be, they aren't Mariner. When is Ganderson is back?

Unless theres a huge complications he will be back this year. Im predicting panthers or cowboys (round 20-21) but even thats cautious.

Mam is dogshit. We should be trying everything to offload him to the tigers. Even without the forward passes, he cant defend to save himself and he doesnt even have the game sense to know what tackle it is. Literally dont think ive ever seen a half take a hit up on the 5th tackle.
The Bears or PNG would take him hopefully. It's depressing to think we will have to put up with him till 2029, due to his contract. Before finally unloading him. The only thing hes had in the past is speed and a step, he has neither now. Every time he gets the ball he pauses not knowing what to do. The delayed pass gives the opposition time to single out the guy receiving, because they know that's what he's going to do. This notion that he's eventually going to come good is so like Milford its not funny.

One little moment late in the game .
He brushed off a cpl of defenders and almost skipped out of the cover tackle . That was enough to make me optimistic .

Mam has some really bad runs of form but gee he was good in the Prelim last year and the Grand Final.
Yeah.. I get wanting to see more as he has clearly not been as good as we want and need this year, but the level of hate lately seems way overboard.

I'd also argue there isn't many players that wouldn't struggle to some degree with SO MANY spine changes week to week.

People are just so quick to forget, which is fine if that is the opinion that they want Ezra gone, just seems crazy to me.

Agree. We were lulled in to a false sense of security when our busted side beat the Bulldogs and Tigers and had every chance to beat an almost-full-strength Roosters. The expectation for our playmakers to be able to pull off elite-level attack with a horrible platform due to (a) the worst casualty ward in the NRL, and (b) ~30% completion rate in the second half is misplaced.

Mam is a player that thrives in chaos and with room to move. Our backs last week got belted and our forwards are too decimated to do anything other than tackle. This really limits what Mam can do and you know what, most halves struggle behind teams getting belted in yardage.

Manly doubled our metres last week and this is not abnormal since losing Haas, Piakura and Jensen, so he is not getting the time and space he needs to be electric. But the Dogs game showed how good he is when we get an even shake of the yardage / possession.

I want Mam back in at full strength but we need big boots while we can't make metres - this is why I would drop him until the cavalry returns - purely to get Duffy and Reynolds' boots in.

Personally, i don't think he's consistently capable of even an average level attack. Can we really afford to have one of our half's play well for 10% of year and expect to make the finals? I was told he would come good after about round four, do you think he's improved since then? How many more weeks do we give him a pass, or use down on troops as the reason?

Who would you put in his place though? All well and good saying drop him, but what's the other option/s?
