POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

I don't think a still shot gives the answer. If you look at the super slomos it looks like shoulder to shoulder, then shoulder to head, then head to head; all within a fraction of a second.

I don't think anyone would argue a sin bin; but a send off it is not.
Yeah I get it. I have changed my mind on the contact about that many times too but I reckon 75% of people here change their opinion if it is NSW and Tedesco haha and the roles are reversed. Including me. It wasnt great. I could see why alot of people are saying it was a send off. Its not the worst decision I have ever seen even if I don't think I agree with the call to send him.

Ponga needs to change his technique a bit. He does this shit alot. It just rarely goes completely wrong. Will knock himself out soon too. He is a bit of a mad man in these cover tackles. I suppose you can respect it if you play with him that he puts his body on the line like this.

Im not saying they are the same I am basing it off the actual contact of both players shoulders to the head which Klein rambled on about consistently for a minute while they were talking upstairs.

The part about must wrap your arms .
Prevents whip lash and is like a concussion to the neurological system ?

You missed that bit ?

I don't know what you are getting at? I said it was worse?? Im closer to your side. Just because he didnt wrap his arms doesn't mean a shoulder to the head can not be worse though? I think this particular tackle was more head on head. It was not good. I am admitting it wasnt.

I don't agree that because you wrap your arm that means it prevents whiplash lol Harry Grants neck doesnt agree with that after Radley smashed him. Whiplash happens in both circumstances.

I was thinking they must be confident...and then they followed it up with a silent fart of a set until the last tackle.
If they could see into the future they probably take it knowing that they would be playing with 12 for 23mins. Going from 14 to 16 usually isnt a big deal though. If they score there it is game over. The problem was the set. It went off the rails for a bit there. Walker and Ponga were out of position on some sweeps

I'm glad that penalty the Maroons received had no bearing on the score.

Between that and the Ponga call, I was embarrassed.

4/7 send off in Origin have now been Klein.

Greenhill- Manson
CONEHEAD- Harrigan
Waterhouse- Archer
Walsh- Klein
Luai- Klein
Sua'ali'i - Klein
Ponga- Klein

Yeah It was a silent fart and a piece of crap.!

That takes some skill!

Munsters 6 again was a killer also. He doesnt do that we probably hold on. It was 5th tackle. They were jammed in the right hand corner. They were not going to hit it up and try and run over from dummy half close to 10m out and he just continued to hold on.

Yep, the second dumbest play of the night after Ponga's. No need, just absolutely daring the ref to blow it.

That said, they probably kick to the far side and Fifita spills it or something anyway. I feel like we were destined to lose that game from send off on.

Yeah it felt like that. Some questionable coaching decisions too. I'm not sure why Nikora stayed on so long and Cotter didnt come back on until very late. Nikora got left on the ground and gave up a very quck play the ball for Clearys try off Brailey. Capewell couldnt move for that last 20mins and you left him on an island against Staggs. Would have moved Toia over to mark up on the quicker guy in Staggs and let Capewell try and use his muscle on Chricton. Or just play shibasaki. What is the point of having him on the bench if not for that situation. Still had 1 interchange because Loreiro had not played and he came on late. Makes no sense.

NRL GM of elite competitions, Graham Annesley said

“The NRL supports Ashley Klein’s decision to send off Kalyn Ponga during State of Origin one,”

“This incident involved clear and forceful shoulder-to-head and head-to-head contact with no mitigating factors.

“Player safety is extremely important and the game will make no apology for taking strong action on foul play.

“The communication between the on-field referee and the Bunker official allowed for multiple views of the incident, live and on replay.

“Confirmation of direct, forceful shoulder-to-head contact through a shoulder charge action meant the referee decided the correct course of action was to dismiss the player.”

Have you not seen Klown in game 2's.

NSW will be lucky to see the ball in 2 weeks time.... PVL and Ch 9 need that decider
Well if you think we are good things in game 2 you should be able to cash in with the bookies as we will be a good price.

I am certain NSW will be strong favourites and if Klein is the ref we will be well and truly up against it again.
