What "injury ladder" is this?
2024 end of year

2024 we were 3rd on the NRL injury ladder at the end of the season. This year we are currently 4th, close behind us are the Warriors who are currently second on the Premiership ladder. All of the teams higher on the injury ladder are above us on the premiership ladder.

2024 we had injuries to similar players
- Walsh (eyesocket fracture) and then knocked out cold in origin after that
- Reyno missed 12 games due to a bicep tear and came back underdone - we didnt have Hunt to fall back on, our halfback was Josh rogers for a while there.
- Haas - had knee surgery after round 2 missed 6 weeks
Other notable injuries to Walters, Mam, Piakura, Staggs, Gosiewski, Sailor, Arthars, Mariner, Smoothy...

Kevy had us on 7 wins this time in 2024, which would put us in 9th place 1 win outside the 8. We actually couldnt even field a full bench this round in 2024 due to injuries.

Injuries can't be madges excuse, if you want a coach that did better, Kevy did better with arguably worse injuries.
Not sure the injury ladder passes the pub test, unfortunately. This seasons injuries also include the concussions every game, Reyno not being able to walk but playing the next week and the other weird off field shit we’ve copped?

Context matters - Looking at the overall numbers without it is just silly and ignorant. Are they star players or bench/depth?

All i know is that this season has been ****ed on all fronts, we've used the most players in the comp and just had to debut 2 guys who work full time jobs outside of footy. I don't really give a shit how that compares to other teams or care to argue who's had it worse. All we know is our situation is very bad.

I did the analysis here. All star players in 2024

I was more talking about the overall comparison to every other team as well. Without context the numbers don't tell the whole story.

We all know 2024 was awful, but arguing which is worse is futile. Both are very bad.

Yeah agree - I was responding to the guy who said no coach could do any better.. Kevy did was my point.

Yeah I call BS on that list. There's no way we aren't #1 with injuries this year.

PS, I will clarify. The only qualifier for the 2024 one is "approximate games missed by top squad players". So I assume top 30, but is that correct, or are they basing it on a presumed "best 17"? And is that the same basis for the 2026 list?

And I guess also, in terms of players available each week, we should look at suspensions and rep duty, because twice now we've been without Walsh for important games due to rep duty, with every likelihood that he was only there for insurance.

Eels are including Ryan Matterson who has been on the outer since 2025.

The Warriors probably show a flaw in the system. How much value have they had on the sidelines?

So I assume Rabbitohs include Arrow?
You'd have to presume so.

Okay they're not including Jai anymore. However they may have beforehand.

The Rabbits list is:

Adam Elliott
Campbell Graham
Sean Keppie
Latrell Mitchell
Tyrone Munro (Suspended not injured)
Talanoa Penitani
Isaiah Tass

Yeah, I'd like to see it flipped into approximate salary cap value missing.

Some of these clubs are missing guys in their top 30 to injury who might never even set foot on NRL turf typically.

I'm guessing Adam Elliott is also in that list along with Penitani who is the 1 game rookie
Edited in my post but just so it doesn't get skipped over.

Latrell Mitchell
Tyrone Munro (Suspended not injured)
Talanoa Penitani
Isaiah Tass

Arrow could have been on that list prior as well - they weren't outlining who counted until recently.

I'm calling shenanigans.

Thats currently. The measure is based off how many games missed due to injury. People return from injury which is probably the case with Souths.

Our current injury list is also less - It also includes suspensions

Yep, and that should include Billy Walters, who I understand is technically "available" but not for first grade.

And it says "unavailable" players (including suspensions), so if it was a fair list it should include rep players like Walsh, Haas & Carrigan. There's $3 million just there...

Yes, which is why we don't know if the list was including Jai until he medically retired. That's hardly a disruption, the club knew ahead of time. Same with Munro.

We don't know if the list includes players who tried their hands at other sports while on the company's dime either. We're also not including Origin players for some reason.
