Did Garry mention if it was Broncos management that made that call? Or Roberts?

If it was Roberts, that's a good sign.

Elected to according to Garry so I would say the Broncos gave him a choice.

If true, good move.

Preferable if he can attend things and keep his urges in check, but making conscientious decisions is a good sign.
 
If he lasts the season without major incident and doesnt damage us, I'll be bloody shocked. Even without alcohol looked a complete liability discipline wise in England. Hope I'm proven wrong but in the here and now I can't but think we'd be better off without him.

I do appreciate all the above sentiments but my gut tells me his season will not end well for Roberts

He needs to watch the niggle when being tackled, he's always trying to slip a head butt in and seemingly resisting the urge to kick someone when getting up.

The team in general need to cut out the whinging when being tackled. Just tackle them harder, ffs, don't complain to the ref.

It's true about Roberts. I managed to have a quick chat to Wayne Bennett. I asked him two questions.

Out of the young forwards, who is he most excited about this year? He said TPJ and Herman. I asked about Jaydn Sua and he said he's probably 12 months away from a regular 1st grade spot.

I then asked him where is Jimmy Roberts, Wayne paused and then just said, we can't have him anywhere near alcohol, it's just not good for him. I then asked "is he doing ok and ready to go?" Wayne just said, "he'll be good for sure".

Wow! Now I'm really worried!!! Wayne looks like shit! Closer to 90 than 70! The bloke in the middle looks pretty fit tho.

I know being his private life it's non of our business but it was kept very quiet throughout all of the James Roberts dramas that his wife left him and moved to Sydney with the new born baby. Or maybe it was discussed and I just missed it?

Either way I know they were together when she had their child as I remember him driving to the goldy after the game for the birth. He's definitely had a rough time of it and been in a bad place so hopefully he can turn things around.
