I'd definitely put Corey Norman above Morgan on the the halves pecking order right now
 
He should seriously be in the centres. Could be one of the best in the comp
 
If the Cows were fully fit, I reckon they'd benefit from a side like this:

I don't get this forum's fascination with turning backs into locks, I like my locks to be much like a Line Backer from grid iron. Tall, heavy, quick feat, and a grip like a crocs mouth. I feel Morgan or bird or anyone else that this forum has mentioned doesn't fit that description. But I guess not a lot of players do
 
He was utter garbage tonight. I reckon maranta would have had an Australian rep jersey if he had been playing 5/8 next to Thurston.
 
He's a centre, fullback or lock. A five-eighth or half he is not. I personally think he could fill the lock the position but Tuamalolo at the club long term he's kind of limited.
 
He's going as well as any half would when they've effectively got $2.5 million on the sidelines. Remember how shit Thurston was in Origin when he had DCE as running sideways? Remember how shit Lockyer was when he had to play halfback with Carroll or Stagg as five-eighth?

False, Lockyer has never been shit. Wash your mouth out for even saying those words. I agree you need a good halves pairing but he really does not do any game management when thurston is playing thus when it comes to his game management it has been limited in experience. During the game last night Asiata had as much say in the game as morgan which is sad because it should really be morgans game to run.
 
There was a play last night where Morgan literally ran around in a circle.

Next play Asiata sets up a try.

The Cowboys as a whole at the moment are either badly out of form, or injured. They've been lucky they had such an easy run to open up the year because their record doesn't indicate how crap they have been. Having said that, Morgan has been thoroughly outplayed over the past few weeks by Asiata, a freakin' prop. Having both Thurston AND Coote out has exposed him as a fraud when it comes to being a playmaker. I read somewhere that the Cowgirls would be better with shifting Coote into the halves with Thurston, leaving Ponga at fullback, and moving Morgan to O'Neill's spot and O'Neill shifting to Feldt's wing, Feldt returning to his rightful place of the QCup. I tend to agree with those moves.
 
If Morgans role is to run the ball etc then fine. He's not a half tho
 
The sickening thing is that it's going to take a good few years of shit form, or him pulling a dce and single handily losing us a series, for him to get dropped.

I just pray that Walters isn't as obsessed with picking blokes who were always average (Ashley Harrison, DCE, etc) but are "incumbents" because they've been carried by Locky, Smith, Jt, Price, petero, Cronk, etc, over better players who deserve a chance to become incumbents (Parker, for instance, should have been picked over Harrison straight up, but it took him ages to break in despite being clearly better). The Aus cricket team still suffers from picking undeserving blokes constantly (Mitch marsh) because we were spoiled in the 90's and early to mid 00's.
 
He's out of form but even at his best he's never much of a playmaker. Cowboys also need to start planning for life after JT suspect Morgan won't cut it with an average halfback. Will rue losing Ponga I suspect. Agree if defence is up to scratch see him as a centre now and maybe back row when pace drops and chubs up a little. He can't be relied upon post Cronk and JT as a Qld half. Solid as a utility but Qld need to decide if they need a workhorse on the bench who can cover most positions or a game breaker in the Bowen style. That leaves 2 half slots and hooker to fill come 2019. Long way away but based on current form and potential back to the days of relying on lesser players to harness the QLD ethos and play above their standard I.e. Andrew (wait for it) McCullough , Cherry Evans/Taylor and Norman. Milf as supersub given showing no signs of being able to defend at any level let alone origin but use him for 20 mins to win the game (or at fullback as Boyd might be too slow at that point).

No body yet with the balls to post they may have gone off a touch early.

I suspect some will wait until he puts in a shocker then use that as proof.

Hunt looked like a world beater against the raiders last week too. Some perspective is required on both sides of the argument.

Further to that, how is you waiting for a good game from him to start your crowing any different to what you are accusing others of?

I'm not sure what I've said about him, but I think Munster is the better option.
